X2D Hassie - mounting Canon TS-E lens adapter?
« on: September 19, 2024, 12:54:18 pm »

Would anyone happen to know what is working to accomplish Canon 24mm Tilt Shift on Hassie X2D?

Thanks,
Jack

Not sure what you mean. If you mean the physical adaptor itself then there are probably lots of them. I know of at least the Kipon and Techart ones. If you mean what effect it has then I suggest that you read Limitations of Electronic Shutter in the User Guide.

I understand E-Shutter issues, I'm seeking feedback from someone who has found AND successfully used one, ignoring the issue of E-Shutter.  I only do landscape work and never had a problem with E-Shutter when I had to use it.

Well as a 24mm lens it works fine. I use the TSE 24 with the Kipon adaptor.
You won't get much tilt/shift though.

Could you define just how much tilt and shift you are able to get out of the 24?

Are any of the other Canon TS-E, or even the Nikon lenses a better mate to the X2D?

Shift in particular is important for my work.

Image circle for that lens, from what i can find, is 67.2 mm and designed for 24x36 sensor (43mm diag).
diagonal for that X2D sensor (32.9x43.8 X2D spec sheet) should be about 54.78 mm
So it seems to just cover the sensor with about  6mm +/- cumulative movement on the diagonal.

you could cut out a 67 mm circle from wax paper and move it over a drawn box of the sensor to see how much shift is possible.

Vignetting may be an additional issue.

Thanks for the clarification.
Just looking for a free lunch!  LOL

Love the X2D, gets me back to the LUT I loved from Hassie prior H cameras I owned.
(went from H5D 60 to GFX, but just never as happy with the GFX for my work)

Hmmm, only "real" solution is put the X2D on the back of something like a Cambo with TS and a lens that gives me sensor coverage to mate to the X2D.  More gear to buy and haul around - not fun at 78 years!

The X2D is of course, not a back, it is a complete camera. So it is not designed for a Cambo as the sensor is further back. Also you will not be able to get anything like a wide angle lens of 24mm as the whole thing is far too long.
Best bet is to use the Hasselblad Tilt Shift Adaptor and an HC lens. Then you can do away with the electronic shutter altogether. If you don't already own the TSE24E then you probably won't pay anymore as I have seen them on eBay lately quite cheap.
