Thank you degrub; it’s personally quite a relief having got myself into the “Daido” mindset, where there is no concern associated with the making of prints of any of my photos anymore. Indeed, probably none of my current interests would look logical as wall decoration. Lovely to feel free to work on something just because it holds some inexplicable attraction to me that brings the iPhone out of the little bag! Were there some other pressure related to the use of the pix, they wouldn’t happen at all, and I feel gratitude that it’s okay just to play! ;-)

It would have been nice to have known this point of view some considerable time ago. Better late than never…

I believe I see it happening with some others here on LuLa, where concerns about ultimate technical control and beating the natural laws of one shot, one aperture and one resulting dof, seem to become less important than the kick from the beautiful simplicity of the single, considered exposure.

Thank you; not the kind of snaps a young Rob C might have thought of making, but as one ages, different worlds become relevant and others fade into memory. Commercial glamour would no longer appeal to me very much, but fashion kinda would. The main difficulty with fashion is like a snake’s tongue: it comes in two parts. If you can’t hire a model who inspires you, then even potentially interesting clothes seem boring. On the other hand, if the girl rings your bells, pretty much any old rag can be turned into something interesting - at least to the photographer. I suppose that’s why being offered the gig was, in many ways, the best part: it massaged one’s confidence and self-esteem before even picking up a camera: validation.

In the window shot with the tiny dog: it was barking its ass off at anything that wandered past its home, perhaps the penalty for having such big ears. I wonder if the noise was a signal that there wasn't anyone there, but in that case, would they have left the fire on unattended? Perhaps they had died? Best left to the dog to know and I to ponder. Ah the excitement, the mystery of other people's lives. :-)

Thank you Keith. It's become something to do in winter (going to the bar) as walking supplement to the daily kilometres the medics ordered me to do. Exactly one klick from home, it gives me an extra two I can add on to the usual two, different, ones down the marina, done earlier in the day, rain or shine. I can no longer hack the afternoon wanderings in full summer furnace, though, and trying the early morning trick instead is impossible because I lack the will for early rising, perhaps resentment at those four years of 7.30am starts during my youthful time in engineering... We were slaves. At the very least, photography gave me freedom!
