Useful things, mouths.

If you hadn't signed it, I would have assumed it was a genuine Daidō.  Is that really an iPhone snap?

Yes Chris, iPhone13 Mini. The original is a large poster (colour), and I took the ‘phone in as close as I could see without reverting to putting on my reading specs. A little messing about in Photoshop, adding quite a bit of contrast, burning in the outline to the edges of the lips, some noise, and voila.

Thanks for the compliment!

Cojones. Now, you non-Spanish speakers know for sure, and will never again confuse things with cushions or drawers. ;-)

Wow, big ones. Did you try to "play" with this big boy?

Big ones demand respect and no, absolutely no uninvited toying.

I do wish it were possible to have an interview, in English, with a bitch of the same ilk. Guess that will remain beyond the powers even of Mr Musk, name notwithstanding.

As they say, there are often more questions than answers. One of the tragedies of my life is that I have always suffered from a surfeit of answers to which there were seldom questions. It was very easy to diagnose in my stock photography portfolio. ;-(

Something kinda wonderful historical in this little game of juxtapositions.

I find myself wondering about the old folks from a century or two ago who lived out their lives in this little Port of Pollença; I know it from 1966, and resent the many changes to its character. Even the forty-three years of tenure of my tiny territory has seen more change than I like. Were this my first visit here, I'd never have even dreamed of settling down for life. In the interest of full disclosure, however, the decision was highly work-based: the beaches, the mountains and the rural areas were fantastic locations for model photography. The exchange rate, pounds sterling to pesetas, meant a wonderful style of living. History, I'm afraid.

Planning approval granted? Or, more likely a back-hander given? Doesn't look like there was an architect involved in any meaningful way.

Beggars belief.

That's partly why there are protests against “massification” in the tourism industry. Everything gets run over in the scramble for the tourist buck, and some of the very people in power are the ones with the money and the opportunity to create the rooms for the tourists. Who controls the people who control the controls?

An interesting thing has happened in the boat scene: those people who owned boats under seven metres in length are the segment of the water brotherhood now trying to sell off. They have been priced out. Exactly the same holds with property: those folks of modest means who could once wed and go into a place of their own, now live frustrated single lives with their parents, because renting is out of the question, never mind the fantasy of buying. Foreign cash has ruined local aspiration. Just like with the better parts of Britain, then.

Thanks, degrub, the iPhone becomes ever more a tool of choice.

Sure, a super-duper, full-frame, mega-pixies machine would be nice to own, but in reality, would I carry it with me every day? I’m not sure that I would have the nerve to risk another mugging which, in such a case, would almost feel by invitation. As with so many things in an ordinary life, there are both suitable and unsuitable times for everything. I suppose that if wealthy enough, a couple of bodyguards would solve those little problems.

Let’s not even think about the pointlessness, now, of models. ;-)
