I was looking for a similar machine. Last time I checked, the Epson machines are prone to clogging if you don't use them frequent enough.So, if you have high volume printing, both are OK. If you seldom print, the Canon is better.
I owned a canon IPF 8300 (44" wide) for several years....The problem I ran into during the entire length of ownership with the Canon was noticeable color drift. For example, let's say I had to print a job that consisted of (30) 24"x30" prints with considerable neutral areas in the print. During the run of printing I would notice that the neutrals would slightly shift in color.... If I printed an image and then went back to print the same image several months later, again I would notice some color drift (most notable in neutral areas) .... I think it was due to the heads remapping the nozzles and that would cause some color change.
