I don’t know ‘Raw Power’ but it sounds small and simple. ‘Aperture’ died, what can I say. Lightroom is big, complex, and has a wide, varied, complex base of computer types and configs it runs on. You have to have been involved in programming, testing, and packaging in that environment to really understand it.
Raw power is actually quite good for what it does but it completely shackled by being tied to the Photos app which is woeful, particularly in referenced file management.
I tried to get Raw power to build their own database but that probably won't happen. Personally i think it needs to grow or it else it won't survive.
Aperture has commercially died, but still works even under Monterey.
The only issue for what I want to do is repeated crashes as the Libraries have not been updated.
Lightroom has the advantage of being commercial updated and being cross platform, albeit an ongoing charge. It is a Jack of all trades, unfortunately for me, master of none.
I was in the IT industry for 40 years before it was called IT. I have written my own software, not commercially but PHP/MySQL databases and a programme to custom frame images and display the matted and framed image with a quote. Software development takes time but is really not that difficult, especially if outsourced overnight to India. The problem is testing and in particular User Acceptance Testing. Some geeks seem to think this is unnecessary as they believe they know every Use Case and those they don't know don't matter. Cheers
