Inferno
« on: August 24, 2022, 12:26:09 pm »

I visited Carlsbad Caverns recently and while shooting, began to see "faces" in the stone.
This inspired a small project, which I have published in my blog, Faces of Inferno.
A small teaser below. I also describe the performance of the Z7ii/24-120 S lens combo.

Absolutely scary and fantastic. It reminds me of the catacombs of Palermo.
The linked article is also full of excellent shots.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Rajan. I will have a look at the subscribe button; I probably cocked something up. Will PM you when I get it sorted.

Cool and a bit eerie, but I like it a lot.

Thanks, Paulo and Bob. For anyone who is monitoring this thread, I am still trying to fix the subscribe button.

Yes I like it too, very corpse like (zombie perhaps?) and I mean that as a compliment  :)

I wonder what it would look like as a mono?

Thanks, Dave. The image on the post (Mephistopheles) is rendered in "natural" color, but collection as presented in my blog (at bottom of page) was rendered to B/W then a red-orange wash of color to simulate the fires of hell ;) was added. I was concerned about the variations in lighting temperature I faced. As B/W, with no toning, I felt the images were sort of flat, but limestone is that! Gray and flat that is. Hope this is clear.

I think I got the Subscribe button working. Anyone familiar with RSS feeds, please test it and let me know. Alternatively, email subscription is also possible. Sorry for any confusion.

My RSS feed reader could not detect anything on either your home page or subscribe page. Clicking on the RSS tag only downloaded it; it was not linked to my reader. FWIW; I'm no expert.

Hi Bob. You may have to clear your browser cache or, as in my case, refresh the page (I use Firefox). From what I understand, you copy the link associated with the RSS tag and paste that link into your reader. I don't know how to do it automatically. If you want the actual RSS feed link, I can send that to you. Otherwise, the "Contact-Subscribe" page has a form by which to contact me and I can add you to the blog email list.

Attached is a screenshot of what my blog pages look like with Firefox's SmartRSS reader. I set this up by right-clicking on the RSS feed link, copying the address, and pasting that into SmartRSS reader.

Update: I just noticed that when I right-click on the "Blog RSS" link, in addition to copying the link, at the very bottom of the fly-out panel I see "Subscribe to this feed" which automatically enters it into the browser. Caveat: I am using Firefox SmartRSS.
