Lumariver Profile Designer Can't open TIFs
« on: November 23, 2021, 08:38:43 am »

Hello

I have installed Lumariver Profile Designer, see screenshots.
I have confirmed the use as a trial with OK.
From CaptureOne I have exported a TIF of the color map.

However, I can't open the TIF with LPD.
It is grayed out.
I can open an original color map DNG of the Leica SL2.
What am I doing wrong?

Sincerly

Jochen

You want to feed it a DNG, at least that's how I've used it.

OK, my bad. You should, at least based on the manual be able to save off 16-bit TIFFs and open them and you're right, I can't either. What version of Mac OS are you on?
I saved my TIFF from Photoshop, you from C1 so it's not the host and how it saves, plus I've tried all kinds of differing TIFF save settings, no go. Might need to ping Anders.

@digitaldog.
Thanks for quick reply.
I was at a seminar two weeks ago where it was shown how to export color plate RAWs as TIFs in CaptureOne to open them in Input6.
Does it not work with the trial but only with a licensed version?
I will contact the seminar organizer.
I read in another older post here on LuLa about problems with the license server.
Currently on the website of basICColor this problem is probably still not solved.

I'm licensed and no, it doesn't work, something is broken.

Hey, this my settings in CaptureOne.
I think this is right or not?

Sorry, don't use C1. But your issue is, TIFFs simply cannot be opened. Yes, you want 16-bit TIFFs. On this end, NO TIFFs can be opened which leads me to believe it's a bug. I build my DCP profiles from DNG. Not rendered TIFFs but the manual states it should open 16-bit TIFFs and no, it doesn't do that. I also see it grayed out.

OK. Tomorrow I will contact support of Lumariver and seminar organizer.

I sent them an Email with the URL to this topic. You might try the same. Something isn't Kosher.

Hi Jochen,

LRPD greys out tifs on my machine as well (MacOS 10.15.7), so something is wrong (compatibility with latest OS updates?).

Regarding your screenshot: Take care to use "linear curve" in C1, as described here:

LRPD manual

PM me for info in german, if you like.

You need to change it to Mode-> Profile Format -> ICC Profile. You cannot create a DCP profile from a tif. Besides, Capture one works with ICC profiles, not DCP

Hello Michael
Thanks for feedback.
I use my bad english for training ;-)
I use the „linear curve" in C1.
I „learned" it in the seminar two weeks ago.

If I ever have more experience with Lumariver or Input 6, I will certainly show up here at LuLa again.
If you like I can contact you so that I stay on track ;-)
Your website does not open here?

Bingo. Now with that menu toggle, (which I never use), TIFF shows up.
Be kind of useful if the product would show either, then toggle from DCP to ICC or vise versa based on what it opens.
I didn't look though the online manual exhaustively but I didn't find this useful info. Good job!

You need to export it with ICC profile -> Embed Camera Profile. From your previous screenshot you exported in Adobe RGB

OK. Thanks.

I must read the manual carefully.
My english isn't good enough to understand it quickly.

Cheers

@all
Thanks

I think I got the Lumariver Profile Designer workflow down pat with help here!! and reading the manual.
There have been a few pitfalls though.

Hello, LPD author here. It seems like you have solved the problem, right? TIFFs should work, but it's a bit sensitive on formats.

Due to being deeply involved in other projects, which seems to go into mid 2022, my email/online support hasn't been good the past couple of years, I'm sorry for that. We do answer to support emails still, but it can take quite a while.

@Torger
Thanks for feedback.
I know that I should read the manual. I will do so, but my english isn't good.
So I need time for translation.
I understand the workflow with one TIF.
I read another aspect.
I should to create a second TIF profile in CaptureOne with a different curve than Linear Rendition.
Which profile do I then apply later to the right shots?

Ups, > Other projects are good for You.
Not for me ;-)
I'm not such a young guy anymore and want to finish my project with camera profiles, LPD, printing quickly ;-)
