i1 Pro 2 and Big Sur
« on: May 18, 2021, 03:02:38 pm »

I recently bought a Mac Mini with Big Sur installed. This one has the Mac M1 chip.

I downloaded the X-Rite i1 Pro Software on their site and got an error message that it couldn’t install.

I emailed X-Rite support and the guy sent me the link and he said it was on the website and that it will work. It installed but when opening to use ( with the spectro plugged in of course ) I get an Apple error that this software is software is incompatible with Current OS.

So, I keep writing back to XRite support tech who wrote me before and after a week he still won’t answer my follow up emails. I’m sending him all the error code Apple sent me.

Does anyone have experience with this kind of thing with X-Rite, Big Sur and the M1 chip Mac?

And does anyone know what my next step should be? Do they have a phone number to call ?

I’ve been using this set up for years on all my computers to profile media and displays and have never had issues, so never had experience dealing with these people. I do know their documentation has always been strange, but it always worked so I never worred too much.

Can you post both screen captures of these error dialogs?

You provided a crash log that I can't help with. Did you get an error message? What did that look like (screen capture)?

There are people on DP Review that claim it’s working on M1 Macs.

I didn’t get a normal error message. It just crashed when I tried to open the installed software.

It’s possible they have now posted a new package for the M1 chip since I tried this . I’ve been very busy the last couple of weeks.

They might have had a Big Sur option but not for M1 chip at that time.

I’ll check again.

I have no way to verify this information, just passing it along.

“The display was connected via a Thunderbolt 3 to Mini DisplayPort cable. An extra USB Connection was used as required by NEC Spectraview II software for Mac M1.”

This is the link to the software, the special M1 version is the fifth choice down.

That's SpectraView. I believe the OP is asking about i1Profiler.

You're right, my bad. I've been so anxious to get SpectraView available for the M1 I just projected myself onto the question.

But the build of SpectraView for M1 is working for you?

I currently use a loaded 2020 Mac mini and don't have an M1 Mac. I've been waiting to switch until I was able to use SpectraView to calibrate my monitor. At this point I'll probably wait until the M1x or M2 or whatever they call it is available but I've seen enough posts on the various sites from people successfully using the special version of SpectraView that I don't think that is the hangup for me any longer. I apologize to the OP for going off topic here.
