“An NBC News poll released Sunday found 43 percent of registered voters said they want their vote for Congress this fall to send “a signal of opposition to President Trump,” a record high in the network’s polls since 1998.
Presidential protest sentiment is up from 38 percent leading into Trump’s first midterms in 2018, and from 35 percent who signaled opposition to President Joe Biden in 2022. It’s also higher than the 37 percent who voted to oppose President George W. Bush in 2006, during the increasingly unpopular Iraq War.”

The surprising part is it is only 43%

Surprising? Perhaps, even more, it’s scary!

The poll is specifically asking about sending a signal of opposition to Trump, so in that context, it alone is encouraging, considering who these voters can vote for in November. And the fact that it's a record since 1998 is encouraging as well. 35% told pollsters the same thing in 2022 with Biden, and we all know how that turned out. Hopefully, in a few weeks, it will be a landslide, and the current Republicans will lose control of the Senate. Then it gets real interesting for Trump.

I absolutely agree but I still expected or at least hoped that number would be higher.
Things do feel like they are turning toward sanity a little bit but it's going to take a long time to fix this mess.

The current hallucination from Trumpistan is that Canada will interfere in the US midterms. WTF?

They repeated that they don't need Canada and Mexico. Fine.

Michael Lewis's new book might be good, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3WDB_lQkqY, judging by the first segment in this interview.

It’s the modern change to blatant shamelessness that’s so startling; politicians no longer appear to care if they are seen to be lying through their teeth - it’s taken as a given. But hey, read the local Spanish newspapers and discover that the disease has spread to Europe. Perhaps Trump learned the technique from the Scottish politicos: he’s got enough interests in that benighted land to have picked up a thing or three in the realm of shamelessness in between rounds of golf.

I thought this was a good summary of Trump's lies, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LKBoH92pVA.  In a speech yesterday he said that Americans don't mind paying for diesel and what not. He also said that he doesn't mind if Los Angeles or San Diego get wiped out.

Well, yeah, if you can piss of enough people, destroy their interest or faith in the voting system, then you will probably find that only your own tribe will go to the trouble of voting, and make their voice heard. The percentage of people that refuses to vote is quite worrying; I think it should be made compulsory to use one’s vote.
