Well, the looks were just enough to keep most of the models I employed in reasonably good spirits. I wonder if the fees had anything to do with it?

Talent and money… talent, who knows; I think an absolute confidence in myself was always there during the working years. As for money, I look back on the business life, and it seems as if I had to scratch and claw for every goddam gig that came along. The problem was simple: in my zone, there wasn’t enough work of the kind I wanted for more than one photographer, and in effect, I was inventing the original wheel (to the clients) in pretty much everything that I did.

I think Epictetus is still relevant today. The only want I've had is for our good health, the rest pales into insignificance.

I saw a comment from someone on Facebook about those Venezuelan "drug" boats. Can those little boats carry enough fuel to reach the USA in the first place? For all we know, if they actually were drug boats, they may have been delivering party favours to the rich gamblers in the casinos in Aruba, only a few tens of km offshore.

Wouldn't it have made more sense for the US Navy to capture the boats, confiscate the drugs, and question the guys?

The solution has been staring everybody in the face from the beginning: hit the idiots at home who constitute a market. No ifs, no buts, just friggin' do it. Of course they won't. Political suicide isn't appealing.
