Liz Cheney and Trump got into a spat a few years ago.  Trump really went after her trying to destroy her.  Jan 6th is her chance for payback.  Same with the other guy, Republican Adam Kinzinger.   That's why Democrat Pelosi the Speaker picked them to be on the committee.  She refused to allow other Republicans who didn;t have it in for Trump to be on the committee.  She should have.  It would have allowed cross-examination of witnesses that presented the opposite side.  Instead, there are 7 Democrats and two prejudiced anti-Trump Republicans on the committee with no balance at all.  That's why it's a show trial.   Only the anti-Trump inquisitors are providing the evidence.

The main problem with your narratives is that they require us to accept that Trump is sane and reasonable but that anyone who criticizes him is the problem. That's just whack-a-doodle talk. You might need to back off on the caffeine a bit.

New poll rating.  These people are blaming Biden not the Russians or gas station owners.

Biden approval on economy hits new low: poll
President Biden’s economic approval ratings have hit a record low for his presidency — and surpassed the lowest ratings of the previous two presidents, new polling shows.

A CNBC All-America Economic survey put Biden’s economic approval rating at 30 percent, 5 points below a previous survey in April.

That number is also 11 points below the low for former President Trump and 7 points below the lowest for former President Obama.

Biden’s overall presidential approval in the poll was one point lower than Trump’s lowest rating, at 36 percent.

But the price of gasoline keeps dropping, so Biden must be doing a great job. :)

Oil's back up over $100 a barrel at $101.9.  So gasoline will go back up.  I guess Biden kissing the King's ring or bumping the Prince's fist hasn't worked yet.

The Democrats could turn around the negative prospects for the election by doing a couple of things.  Biden should come out and tell the American people that while he's for measure to make changes in the climate, current circumstances due to inflation and the war in the Ukraine has required we put some of those measures on hold temporarily.   He then should change many of the restrictions on domestic oil production.  He should put all spending on hold that adds to the deficit and requires more inflation pushing higher prices.  He should work with Republicans on lowering taxes to get the business world moving better so a bad recession doesn't hit.

If he did that, he would get many people on his side.  People would respect his intelligence and guts and common sense.  Americans want him to be in the middle and actually do what's necessary to help them today instead of following many of the dreams of the left.  People just don't believe he cares about them.  He's just following his own political agenda.   I think he'd get a lot of respect if he reversed his positions claiming that bad times have made that a requirement.  People understand that when you lost your job, you have to tighten your belt.  To keep spending is irresponsible.  That's how people see Biden and the Democrats and they're going to be reminded of that in November.

False yet again. Kevin McCarthy, the minority leader, withdrew all his nominees for the committee after Pelosi rejected his first 2, representatives Jim Banks of Indiana and Jim Jordan of Ohio. She was quite right to reject them "based on their actions around the riot and comments they had made undercutting the investigation." (Quote from the Times). So Pelosi asked two Republicans who had shown that they were willing to risk the wrath of Trump in support of democracy and truth. And what about all the Trump allies who were called to testify and refused?

Being "prejudiced" against Trump is like being prejudiced against leprosy and cancer.

I keep wondering why, if they are such loyal patriots, they refuse to testify and sometimes pre-emptively ask for pardons. Am I being prejudicial if I say that doesn't sound like the behaviour of innocent people? :)

But WAIT! Those higher prices were good for people holding stocks in Big Oil. What about them?

Democrats are anti-Trump so there's already bias against Trump.  You need people who are pro-Trump to represent the other side to have a fair hearing. Would a judge tell the defense attorney that he can't represent the defendant because he's biased toward his client?  That's your position.

By Pelosi adding two Republicans who are anti-Trump to anti-Trump Democrats, she's stacking the deck.  There's no one to represent the other side.  It's a show trial.

The hearing is like a Soviet Star Chamber.   Democrats running it are out to bury anyone affiliated with Trump or try to make Republicans running for office in November look bad before the election.  Why would anyone want to give them that opportunity?

If Biden wasn't so anti-fossil fuel, oil companies would be producing as they were and drilling more domestically.  They may be getting less per barrel because of it, but they'd be selling more and making up more of the difference.  Plus they have to deal with each other as competitors.

Biden is making the whole process difficult for them.  Instead of having them produce more, he'd rather use our strategic reserves that are supposed to be saved for war and other emergencies, not higher prices and beg Saudis to pump more.  He looks very foolish to the whole world.  No one respects him anymore.

Repeat after me: IT IS NOT A TRIAL, IT IS NOT A TRIAL, IT IS NOT A TRIAL. It's a fact finding hearing. There are no "sides."

As for pro-Trump people, how many Trump associates have refused to testify and have been issued subpoenas? Here's a list:

https://thehill.com/homenews/house/3514712-heres-a-list-of-the-people-who-have-been-subpoenaed-by-the-jan-6-committee/

Many if not all of them must be pro-Trump, so why don't they testify voluntarily to "defend" him? If Trump wants the truth to come out (you can stop laughing now!) why doesn't he ask them to testify and waive exec priviledge? We all know why.

Alan, this is one reason why a lot of disdain is directed at you. You ignore facts and logic and just keep repeating the same old malarky.

...You need people who are pro-Trump...

Not after January 6, 2021, we don't. We need people who are pro-democracy to keep it alive into the future.

"I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn't lose any voters, OK? It's, like, incredible." — Donald Trump on January 23, 2016 at Dordt College (a private evangelical Christian school) Sioux Center, Iowa

We found out too late just how many people in the United States can be blinded by a cult of personality and believe in the BIG LIE.

You can't have a valid and honest fact-finding hearings with only one side being represented. When the Republicans take over Congress and Republicans start hearings on Hunter Biden and the President, you're going to complain it's all political.  What goes around comes around.

I feel you ignore facts and logic and repeat a lot of malarky too.  But I do not direct disdain towards you personally. I disagree with your ideas and beliefs.   Respectful people understand the difference.

You have been fixating on that Hunter Biden laptop for a while now. I hope for your sake there's something on that hard drive to satisfy you. It will be terrible for you if there isn't.

But I'm puzzled by one aspect of that whole story. I'd have thought that by now, with all the hackers at Russian or GOP's disposal, someone would have tracked down a backup of that hard drive on the "cloud" somewhere. People sure seem to be pinning their hopes on that one piece of hardware. Seems like a risky gamble to me. Anyway, by now, whoever has that hard drive could have filled it up with anything they wanted to. Maybe Nixon's missing 18 minutes are on there.

• Fact: There was bipartisan support in Congress for an evenly appointed bipartisan commission of citizens to investigate the January 6th insurrection and what lead to it. Republicans in the senate killed it with a filibuster, despite the fact that it had majority support in both houses.

So, who is it that doesn't want "honest fact-finding hearings"?

It doesn't matter what's with the laptop.  Once Republicans control Congress, their hearings will discover something sinister about it just as Democrats are finding sinister things about Jan 6th.  It's all politics.  What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

I'm not following you. If there's nothing incriminating on the laptop, then what is it all about? You've been harping about that laptop on and off for a year or two now.

Are you saying the GOP just make up stuff? If they're going to make up stuff, why don't they make up stuff about Joe, why bother with Hunter? Who cares about Hunter?

Democrats run Congress. So naturally, any investigations will be about the Republicans.  So Congress is not having hearings on the laptop.    That could change if Republicans take over after the November election.  The press had been protecting the Bidens because they wanted Joe to win the presidency.  The NY Times even called the laptop reports phony before the election.  Now even they agree the laptop issue is real.  So the paper lied to protect Joe Biden.

In any case, the "laptop" issue is not just about Hunter.  If Joe Biden was involved with the family getting money using the prestige of the VP office while he served in it, then that would be a violation of the law.  You can't sell your office for access.  So it's a fair turnaround if Republicans go after Democrats and Biden when they control Congress to uncover "wrongdoing".  If they don't grant Democrats the right to properly protect Biden in any future hearings, Biden defenders will squeal like stuck pigs as Republicans are doing about the Jan 6th hearings Democrats run.   Politics is politics.

Frankly, most Americans don't want to hear any of this.  They're more concerned about high prices, and other issues that affect them personally.  Instead of having hearings on inflation, fuel, medical costs, deficits, etc., Congress is wasting its time playing political games for power. Nero fiddles while Rome burns.

You do realize that you've repeated this many times now. You think it's ok to investigate Hunter while claiming that investigating Jan 6th is bogus. Think about that.

Is it reasonable to think that nothing has leaked about Hunter by now at least hinting that there is something really important there? Is that plausible.

Rome isn't burning, wildfires are burning. You're probably right that no one cares about Hunter Biden, why do you?

Why do you want hearings on fuel prices, that makes no sense. It's the free market, they raise prices to what the market will bear, there's nothing to investigate. Last I heard, humongous trucks are still best-sellers so fuel costs can't really be that high, can they? Personally, I think fuel costs should double, it would speed up the transition to more sensible decisions about energy use. We've been lulled into believing that oil and food should be cheap but that designer t-shirts should be expensive. Fixing that moronic mindset should be top of mind, shouldn't it?

As for medical costs, so long as people think that their insurance companies are competing in a free market to keep costs low, there's nothing to investigate. There are examples from all over the world about how to keep medical costs low, but the US has no interest in changing, so I don't know what you're talking about there.
