Oh.  It was Trump's fault.

My point is since it was so obvious to me, a layman,  that we were printing too much and to a lot of others as well, why didn't the experts understand it as well?...

Whether it's experts in immunology, climate science, or economics; they just never seem to have your reading between the lines kind of intuitive understanding — at least from your perspective. Why is that?

Why is it when Trump was president, he was reasonsible for everything?

He was "reasonsible" for everything? Covfefe perhaps?

The fact is the Fed and Biden were wrong.  Biden still has not learned and wants even more debt, deficits, and printing.  He doesn't care about inflation.  He lies when he says he wants to help the public and stop inflation.  If he did, he would not be proposing more spending and claiming at the same time that he's going to reduce inflation.  I believe he even said his spending would reduce inflation.  Who's he kidding?

Who are you kidding? None of that was an answer to my question.

This is a fascinating podcast discussion revolving around the opioid crisis in the US from the latest season of Malcolm Gladwell's Revisionist History. It's about the requirement in some states for doctors to fill out in triplicate any prescriptions for a specific set of drugs, something that was introduced early last century in some states. Some states regarded it as an unwanted intrusion into doctor practices and opioid overdoses are examined based on this state by state variation. It's an interesting discussion about the value of regulatory bureaucracies, among other things.

The deal Biden made with other countries is dead just like the JCPOA with Iran.  Presidents need the Senate to approve treaties.

As an aside, this is Democrat Senator Manchin pushing to run for president against Democrat President Biden in 2024. He's going to present himself as a middle-of-the-road Democrat, something Biden claimed he was but turned out to be "woke" instead.

Sen. Joe Manchin Balks at Global Minimum Tax Championed by Biden
Administration had planned to use fiscal legislation to advance accord struck by Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and other countries
WASHINGTON—The Biden administration’s international tax agenda suffered a setback when Sen. Joe Manchin rejected a 15% minimum tax on multinational companies this past week, dimming prospects of turning last year’s global tax agreement into reality.

Some Republicans are already planning payback regarding Jan 6th hearings if and when they take over the House in January.  Karma.  What goes around comes around.

(CNN)House House Republicans plot investigative revenge on January 6 panel as Trump itches for payback
Republicans are plotting revenge on the select committee investigating the January 6, 2021, insurrection, as the GOP weighs a broader effort to re-litigate some of Donald Trump's biggest election grievances if it recaptures the House majority.

The former President has been itching for payback and leaning heavily on his Capitol Hill allies to defend him against a recent slew of damaging revelations about his role in the deadly attack on the US Capitol. Now, as Republicans search for ways to undermine those findings, their party has started to lay the groundwork to investigate the select committee itself.

Doesn't it bother you that while the riot was happening on that Jan 6th, Trump did next to nothing?  Do you really think this is all just a partisan political witch hunt? Because that position is insane, you know that, right.

Actually, the evidence is showing that he aided and abetted the insurrection, if you read between the lines, something you do all the time when it suits you. :)

You mean the biased facts presented by Democrats.  I've asked where's the meat?   What proof is there?  All I saw was a loud demonstration that turned into a riot because the Capitol police force was undermanned.  They were undermanned because Nancy Pelosi, Democrat and SPeaker, didn't do her job.  She is one of four members of Congress responsible for the Capitol police department, not the president.  She should have made sure the police had more manpower to control the mob.  If fact, they turned it down when Trump's Dept of Defense offered troops to help out the Capitol police.  Of course, you don't hear about that at the Democratic show trial.  It matters which lines you choose to read between.  ;)

Without Trump's repeated BIG LIE about election fraud, which began before the election, there would have been no insurrection, invasion of the Capitol, or the vice-president and legislators being forced to flee for their lives from a violent mob incited by Trump.

My point is since it was so obvious to me, a layman,  that we were printing too much and to a lot of others as well, why didn't the experts understand it as well?   The point is in any case, as rpesident, Boden is responsible. He hired the guy who blew it.

The other thing that Biden could have done is to push Congress to stop spending and adding to the deficit.  The Fed is often stuck printing to cover the government's deficits.  Biden is still pushing to deficit spending today although Manchin stopped him again.  So Biden's responsible for that as well

We were talking aout how inflation is Biden's fault. I am not defending Powell at all, I am asking how Biden reappointing Powell less than 2 months ago can have anything to do with the inflation we are having.

As for all the stimulus $$, there's no doubt that it contributed to inflation--but it was not the only cause. And if you are blame-casting, recall that the first two stimulus payments and the payroll protection plan were done under Trump with bipartisan congressional support. And also recall the miseries that these programs prevented in terms of people being evicted, losing jobs, and going hungry.

...biased facts presented by Democrats...

Facts have tended to show a strong Democratic preference.  Much more so in the last six years as the Republican Party was consumed by the Trumpublican Party.

Since November of 2020, facts seem to have virtually no remaining relationship whatsoever with the personality cult formerly known as the Republican Party.

You're right that printing started way before although high prices, high CPI didn;t really get started until under Biden's term.  Bush started printing (Qualitative Easing) during the 2008 financial crisis.  Obama added to it.  Then Trump added to it because of Covid.  The CPI stayed under 2%.

However, when Biden took over the economy was starting to return to normal from Covid.  Yet he added aother trillion+ in stimulus.  Many people said it wasn't necessary.  The Democrats and Biden ignored them. Then he wanted to add another three to five trillion in spending, quashed by Manchin and Sinema.  Then he wanted to add another trilion+ also quashed a couple of days ago by Manchin.  That's an additional trillion of deficit budget spending. All of that was in the middle of high inflation and prices continually going up.  Biden said  he was going to lower inlfation.  But he lied by wanting to spend more. You can;t do both at the same time.  So he gets the blame.  It's happening on his watch and he did nothing but aggravate the situation.

While some of those Covid payments did help people in need.  Much of it was not necessary.  My wife and I received stimulus money although we never had a decrease in our earnings from our pensions and social security.  There are millions of others who got so much stimulus money, they did want to go back to work.  Many retired early due to the extra government money they got leaving the job market unable to fill it's requirements to this day.  So Biden get the blame.  His spending actions never showed any restraint.

How many retired early due to stimulus funds? How much stimulus money did they receive?

Do you know or just throwing it out there as bait?

A lot of people who were laid off got over a year of unemployment insurance payments between their state and federal payments.  Since their place of work was shut down anyway or not hiring back during this period, a lot of them opted to just call it quits and retire. They were at that age anyway, ready for Social Security, had a 401K plan, and if lucky had a pension as well.  They didn't want the hassle of looking for another job and starting all over again.
