You ignored Powell's lack of support for McCain. That's why Powell's a RINO.
Powell gave his reasons for his endorsement of Obama. You aren't required to like them or accept them. McCain's reaction to Powell's endorsement of his opponent: "I respect and continue to respect and admire Secretary Powell."
Joe Biden ran on that same ticket in 2008 as VP. Biden remained very close friends with John McCain and his family until the day that he died. McCain requested that his dear friend Joe speak at his funeral. McCain also famously pushed back when a woman at one of 2008 campaign rallies started to parrot lies about Obama; "No ma'am, no ma'am...".
Of course, Trump said nasty things about McCain after he died and his allies labeled McCain a RINO as well. The only Republicans not considered RINOs today are the ones blindly following Trump and kissing his posterior.
Decent Republican politicians and office holders are a dying breed. You can either push back on the lies or accept the Trumpublicans as the new party.
