Missing the point again. If we stopped all carbon emissions, it would do the entire planet a lot of good and maybe other's would follow.
It's a bit like someone stopping from stating incorrectly "All prints are 300DPI". Others who know even a bit less than that author would not read and believe such nonsense from that producer of misinformation, even if others kept up that silly, nonsensical statement. Baby steps but progress.
Obviously the concept of leading by example is lost on some here.
In your last two recent posts you stated deficient when you meant deficit(s).  Maybe you should practice being perfect before criticizing everyone all the time in every forum.

But would you qualify? 🤔
Seems you 'think' subsidizing Kodak isn't "Crony capitalism."
You also need to get a sense of humor.

I am, they are as usual, nonessential, based on assumptions and misunderstandings. Like "All prints are 300DPI"; I read your post.  Have you used Trump's previous barometer for the economy, the stock market? But you'll gladly accept that social security check they send you.
Why shouldn't I accept my Social Security check?  It's my money.  I started paying into it at 16 years old in 1961, (when it was only 3%.)  Now it's time they paid me back.

If America stopped all carbon emissions, it wouldn't change anything regarding the climate without China and India.  This is just a subsidy that mainly goes to more well-heeled and rich people at the expense of the middle class and poor.  It will have no dent on climate.  Biden's new budget will make Canadians as well as Americans poorer. It's taking assets that could have been spent elsewhere to help let's say the homeless rather than giving to the rich who could afford these cars and would buy them anyway.  Didn't we learn anything from Solyndra?

If they want to do something worthwhile, they should give 5 rolls of Kodak film free to all film photographers.

Alan, do you recycle or do you just throw everything into the dump? If you recycle, why...surely your contribution is so extremely miniscule it approaches zero affect on recycling as a whole.

Are you referring to the recycling of arguments and assertions?

That would increase significantly environmental pollution due to the film development chemicals.

Social Security is designed to provide retirement support for American workers who pay into the system. It is funded through FICA taxes (FICA stands for the Federal Insurance Contributions Act). The Social Security Administration levies a 12.4% tax on earnings (6.2% is paid by you, and 6.2% is paid by your employer) to fund Social Security benefits.
Social Security is arguably the most important entitlement program for the nation's aging pre-retirees
Taxes, entitlement, socialism Alan, how can you?

I agree completely.  As a former American (after 52 years, I became a German citizen in 2018), I love to ask my "conservative" friends and relatives if they think that socialism is a bad idea and if they think it has no place in America.  They never think about so many things that they depend on and feel they are entitled to that are socialist in principle.  Police and Fire Departments, insurance policies, Social Security, and Medicare are only some of the things that they never consider.

And before anyone asks...yes, our healthcare system here in Germany is MUCH better than in America...and no...it isn't socialized medicine.  It is just fair and treats people equally and with the focus on care and not on profit.

What should we have learned from Solyndra?
Taxpayers shouldn't invest in private companies like Solyndra and Tesla and GM and bail-out all the other zombie corporations that should be going bankrupt right now.  Government shouldn't pick winners and losers.  Let them earn their investment capital and earnings from private sources.

Alan, please name a few "free markets".
We've discussed this before.  Free markets are on a sliding scale.  As long as government taxes, imposes regulation, tariffs, and spends money, which all governments have to do, their policies will influence free markets and lessen economic activity.  However, the less command and involvement from government, the freer those markets are and the more efficient they become.  Capital is better allocated instead of wasted.  More jobs are created. Competition provides better products at lower prices. Citizens benefit from better economic conditions the freer the markets become.

One look at what China did in thirty years from a total command economy to a largely freer market economy, albeit with still huge government control, shows just how effective free markets work.

Socialist systems work.  The problem is the people are not as free or rich.

Try telling the 95% of the American people who live pay check to pay check they are rich.
