We'll be dealing with Communist China who's stealing our lunch.

Are you saying you can't compete?  Maybe you need to lower taxes some more so that Bezos and Musk get a little richer, that ought to help. Also, be sure to increase those private and public college tuition fees so that schools only attract the ones who can afford to pay or don't mind going into debt for 20 years, that should select for the best students and future leaders. And by all means reduce those environmental rules, poisoning the air and rivers is a small price to pay for better balance sheets and higher CEO bonuses. Last I heard there are still a couple of unions left, they should have been stamped out by now, I'm sure they're holding the US back too.

I think he is reviewing his options, and there is more to the equation than tariffs or no tariffs. You know I am not a fan of black and white thinking.

I don't recall you being a fan of tariffs before but I'm glad to see that you're coming around.

I am not a fan of tariffs and have no idea why you think I am “coming around”.

I don't know why you think he stayed hidden in his basement. Everyone knew he was down there. He even communicated with the outside world now and then. It was a campaign strategy. Let the other guy self-destruct.  It worked. He is clearly not hiding now. I see him on the news every day actually doing something. As far as the biased news media goes, it seems to me that the fair and balanced news media on the right is doing a good job offering an alternative point of view.

This "Biden in the basement" narrative is such crap. Records show he was out to campaign events at least once a week from the start of the pandemic until the election. They were not all, or even mostly, big rallies with big crowds--unlike the Orange Moron and his supporters, Biden was aware of the covid danger that such events presented. The "basement" crap is yet another Trump invention that his dribble-chinned supporters buy into--like the "slow Joe" nonsense.

Of course it is crap. But why waste time trying to convince a Trump supporter that it is crap.

Perhaps this is why Alan thinks Biden is not going to make it to the end of his first term: he has been listening to Dr. Sean Hannity on Fox News.

Sean Hannity asks: 'Is there something medically wrong' with Joe Biden?

Sean must be feeling down these days. He had the ear of the President until a while ago, daily phone calls I read somewhere. Not he's just another radio jock.

Speaking of trillions, the $1.9 trillion legislation just needs the president's signing so we'll all be richer soon with all those worthless greenbacks.
NO, we all will not be. Like Trump's deal, giving tax breaks to the highest 5% of Americans. This is the opposite.
So someone ask Alan if his combined income is under or over $160K a year. IF lower, will he give back the money coming to him? If over, was he OK with the money he got through Trump who also of course raised the deficit 'bigly'.
The answer from Alan (which will not come) would only result in more Hypocrisye  :'(

Looks like we have some gun control action going on in the House today. With the NRA in bankruptcy, maybe there is a chance it will pass in the Senate.

House passes bills expanding background checks for gun sales, closing 'Charleston loophole'

Criminals don't do background checks so it won't matter except for law-abiding people who don't rob banks anyway.

Oh.  Well, what do you think Biden should do about the tariffs?  How do you think he should handle China?

Our relationship with China is multi-faceted and complex and requires a comprehensive and nuanced strategy. I am not sufficiently knowledgeable with respect to the breadth of China issues to advise Biden on a China policy.  I only know what I read in the news. Specifically with respect to tariffs, I would like to see those mutually walked backed, as a part of the comprehensive and nuanced strategy I mentioned above.

And not so funny but not surprising:

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/states-republican-governors-had-highest-covid-incidence-death-rates-study-n1260700
States with Republican governors had highest Covid incidence and death rates, study* finds
The study found that states with Democratic governors had higher death rates early on in the pandemic, but that trend was reversed by the Fourth of July.

*The study, was published in the peer-reviewed American Journal of Preventive Medicine.
Who recently said in these forums, in a Pandemic "all politics are local".

Harvard, Yale, and MIT are all private Ivy League schools.

MIT is not an Ivy League school.
