I'm starting fresh with no one on the ignore list since the site is starting fresh as well.  I'm all in favor of stimulating but personally non-caustic posts.  Frankly, I don't have much hope.

This is actually a profound point, in my opinion. I'm reminded of a parable attributed to the Buddha, which conveys a similar message. There are many versions of the story, but the fundamental concept is the same. Here's one version:

"After many days of travel, Buddha arrived at a small town to give a speech. Everyone was happy to see him, except one young man.

While Buddha spoke, the man was shouting at him. Buddha did not pay attention and continued speaking. This infuriated the man even more. He walked directly in front of Buddha and continued to ridicule him. “You have no right to teach others. You’re stupid and you’re a fake!”

The Buddha's response to the man was to ask the question: “If you buy a gift for someone and that person does not accept the gift, to whom does the gift belong?”

"The young man was surprised by the question, thought for a moment and answered, “It would belong to me because I bought the gift.”

The Buddha said, “Correct. It’s the same with your anger. If you become angry with me and I don’t feel insulted nor accept your hostility, the anger falls back on you, as it was initially yours to give. You are then the only one who becomes unhappy, not me. All you’ve done is hurt yourself.”

"The young man understood, clasped his hands together and slowly bowed to the Buddha. It was an acknowledgement that this man learned a valuable lesson that day."

And yet we are able to vent anger, so that we may regain equanimity. Puzzling.

This is hilarious. The Washington Examiner, a right-leaning news website, is chiding CNN for promoting a lawyer who filed suit against Gov. Ron DeSantis to close the beaches. Dismissing the case on appeal, the Court admonished the lawyer:

“There was no good-faith legal argument to support a claim for such relief in the trial court, and there was certainly no good faith basis to argue legal error on appeal. [Uhlfelder] and his counsel undoubtedly used this court merely as a stage from which to act out their version of political theater. This was unprofessional and an abuse of the judicial process.”

Who does it sound like the Court is describing?

Some people around here complain that the news media has a double standard. You can add the Washington Examiner to your list. Unless you have a double standard about double standards.

By the way, I agree with the Court that the Florida lawyer in question is an idiot. There are a lot of idiots on both sides.
