Atlantic Canada includes Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland/Labrador. Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland are islands, but Prince Edward Island is connected to the mainland by a long bridge. Your wife would like a vacation on that island.
We were there on a cruise from Quebec City to NYC.  Here's our stop in Charlottetown PEI.  Notice the Corona sign.  Hmmm. No masks.

Here's another bumper sticker:  I hope you bought some gold.

Low-cost index funds, but thanks for the advice. I think that I'll listen to the advice of Warren Buffett and Vanguard founder Jack Bogle for average investors like myself rather than you. They have a much deeper understanding of finance, economics, and markets.

We let insane people go on television and tell lies, as lawyers working on behalf of the President, about election fraud—while providing no evidence—in an effort to disenfranchise voters and destroy their ability to choose their own political leaders in a democracy. Lies also broadcast by the President even before the election was held and believed by millions of emotionally disturbed citizens that will parrot whatever the President says like cult followers, many of whom own gums.

Others pretend that this is all just normal and nothing that we haven't seen before. The complicit, the gullible, and insane standing together to undermine democracy. Freedom, liberty, Trump... Yeah! Democracy? Mmmmm... not so much.
Yes.  47% of Americans are deplorable besides complicit, gullible, and insane.

But notice plenty of clipped highlights and shadows. Really, you gotta leave Politics behind and work on exposure/processing.

Yes.  47% of Americans are deplorable besides complicit, gullible, and insane.

If that's what you believe, you're entitled to your opinion. That's not what I said or believe, although there are millions that are at least one of the latter three.

I have no idea what you are talking about and why you bring Obama into this discussion.

There is a clear difference between respecting democracy and taking the legal system to its limits. Besides, Trump isn't only filling law suits, he is also trying to influence people in his own party to depart from the law. The last time in Michigan a few days ago. There is zero doubt that he is a would be dictator. Zero.

The only difference between this election and previous ones is the declaration by Trump that he could only loose if Democrats cheated. This very statement is a first fundamental attack on democracy because it takes the will of American people out of the equation. Indeed, calling victory before voting takes place means that voting isn't relevant.

It' then the spreading by white house official of conspiracy theories based on zero facts to strengthen the idea among hard core supporters that they got cheated. Needless to say factual information is essential to democracy and spreading lies is therefore anti-democratic. Even if the lawsuits resulting from the suspicion emerging from these lies are legal. This isn't the point.

There is therefore zero justification for his attempts and his refusal to acknowledge his defeat. None based on facts. It' again him inventing a story and sticking to it against logic and facts. The same way he invented stories that caused tens of thousands of covid casualties,... the list is of his criminal wrong doings is well known.

And why does it work? Because of people like you.

Cheers,
Bernard

I explained this.  What Trump did in objecting to the election results is being fought out in court. That's constitutional and democratic.  What Obama did is undemocratic.  He used phoney dossiers illegally sworn to a Federal judge to go after his political rival.  Simple.

Well, there is this DATA:
According to a Tuesday poll by Morning Consult and Politico, 71 percent of Republican voters believe that Trump has the best interests of the U.S. at heart. The same could not be said of Republican members of Congress, with only 17 percent of those Republicans polled saying GOP lawmakers were committed to the country's best interests.
Indeed, confirmation bias.
Proves nothing. GOP lawmakers run for election.  The regular Republican doesn't so they can tell it how they feel it.  YOu don't have to be a brain scientist to figure it out.

So you seem to be putting the out of control Covid virus running around the US on foreigners walking across the border?

You are throwing out a bunch of unproven possibilities when the answer is right there in front of you. Wear a mask, social distance, don't party hardy and wash you hands and have a very thorough tracing system in place. China and in fact most of the South East Asia area followed these rules after doing a hard lock down at the beginning. They got the virus under control and never really looked back.

As far as more infected people from China visited NYC...I thought your claim one of Trump's biggest achievements is he locked down the border early to China visitors...now which is it. The biggest influx of people was American's returning from abroad and when they landed in the USA, there were no protocols in place...so they just carried on their merry old way and spread the virus they carried with them to all parts of the states.
That's also part of their experience with corona type and other diseases.  It's part of their culture to wear masks when sick.  The West is not used to that which accounts for the resistance to wearing them and higher infection rates.  Maybe we'll do better when the next virus comes rolling around.

The gun laws in Canada are quite different from the ones in USA. You can still get a .338 or .375 Magnum for hunting a bear or moose, but you can't legally buy a military-grade assault-style weapons.

You can't buy these in the USA either.  Military-grade is a machine gun.  These are illegal here.

It proves exactly what it proves. I'm certain you are far from a brain scientist.
”Regular Republican” is it? ”If you find it hard to laugh at yourself, I would be happy to do it for you.”

"Brain scientist"? I think the idiom you are looking for is "brain surgeon".

Trump has done a great deal more than that. He has done far more to undermine democracy in this country than any foreign adversary could hope to accomplish. He has convinced millions of citizens that elections are a sham and a fraud and that their votes are meaningless.

What Obama did is undemocratic.  He used phoney dossiers illegally sworn to a Federal judge to go after his political rival.  Simple.

A myth that your simple belief in ideological nonsense narratives will never understand or even attempt to understand. Simple indeed.

No. What I meant was that fewer nuts manage to acquire lethal weapons. About 75% of the guns come from US. With handguns, it's about 84%.
Not all murders are committed by a firearm. In April 2018, an autistic young man drove a rented van into a crowd of people on Yonge Street, the main street in Toronto. The driver targeted pedestrians, killing 10 and injuring 16, some critically.

The US Consitution allows personal guns.  However, there are many laws that require clearance before you buy.  Previous arrest records, being legally nuts, etc are grounds for not being allowed to buy a weapon.  As Slobodan said, unfortunately, we don't know someone is that nuts until he kills a few people.  It's like drunks on the road. After they get caught driving intoxicated and killing a couple of people, then courts take their licenses away.  If we're lucky, they get a DWI before they kill someone and we take their licenses away first.  We need to figure out how to find out the ones who will use these weapons to do murder before they do it.  It's not easy.

In the meanwhile, Biden wants to add a "tax" on weapons.  I heard $200 per weapon. That's a lot, especially for gun collectors.  Sounds like a poll tax which is unconstitutional. So I don't think it will pass legal muster.  Of course, Biden saying it now is going to hurt Democrats in Georgia senate runoff, I believe.  It will bring out all the gun nuts to vote against the Democrats.   I have a feeling this is a payoff to Bloomberg.  He has made gun confiscation one of his pet projects and supported Biden with millions.  Have we talked about how big money influences politics, one of the democrats pet peeves?  :)

What does an island have to do with things? Borders can be locked down quite effectively.

That's right. In the quoted Atlantic Provinces example, New Brunswick province is on the mainland, neighbouring with Quebec and Maine.

Hey, give us a break.  Guns are one of the few products we still manufacture that the Chinese haven't out-competed us on. Tanks, fighter jets, rockets.  Personal and to nations.  We're open for business. :)

No surprise here. Your statement is not true.

https://www.boisestatepublicradio.org/post/automatic-weapons-are-legal-it-takes-lot-get-one

In the meanwhile, Biden wants to add a "tax" on weapons.  I heard $200 per weapon.

What a surprise! Also not true.

"Biden has not called for a new tax on firearms. He opposes easy access to assault weapons and would ban their manufacture and sale. Existing weapons would be subject to new regulations.

He has proposed applying an existing federal law on machine guns to assault weapons — which can include semi-automatic firearms — and high-capacity magazines. That existing law includes a $200 tax.

However, it’s ultimately unclear whether that tax would apply to all semi-automatic firearms, if it would be charged per unit or if existing gun-owners would be charged anything at all."
