How sure are you that everyone that would be at the Thanksgiving celebration were also previously infected?

He doesn't know, nor how many they would come into contact with outside such a celebration.
He just plays an epidemiologist. No training, no data, no expertise; lots of assumptions. He is sure that everyone in the family is immune from Covid-19 and can't spread it.
This is what is known as herd mentality; a lack of understanding the subject but regurgitating it often.

Since many recovered Covid patients will suffer multiple lasting effects on their organism from the virus, some members from that family may be not around for the next Thanksgiving. It's best to avoid the virus.

So? If there are new members of the family coming, they have nothing to fear, as the originally infected are not infectious anymore, nor they can be reinfected. And please do not jump in with "there are cases of re-infection" as they are either proven incorrect or are extremely rare.

What's even worse, our elections are run by a professional organization that allows ZERO interference from political parties or politicians. Can you believe that? What kind of a democracy is that. But by far the worst thing about Canada, our election campaigns only last a month or two and the handover to the new guys only takes a week or so. Perhaps he doesn't know that the vast majority of nuts are not adjudicated nuts in legal proceedings and are therefore free to buy all the guns and ammunition they want. They can then go to schools and churches and shopping malls and hotels and post offices and shoot all the people they want. It is a free country after all.

Masks became symbolic.  Wear masks and shut down the economy on the Democratic side.  Don't wear masks and open up the economy on the Republican side.  Most people are on neither side and use them sensibly.

Alan, I fully agree on your first four statements.
The solution is to maintain safe social distancing. You don't have to live in the communist China for that. Just look at New Zealand, Atlantic Canada, Taiwan, Singapore.
