I saw some videos showing ransacked rooms, damaged furniture and floors just littered with various items and broken glass. You wouldn't want those unruly deplorables walking into your living room.

These knuckle-draggers spent most of their time taking selfies and stealing or breaking things--and along the way killing a cop. But as for "insurrection," these people have been plotting this action on social media for weeks if not months. Their stated goal was to prevent the certification of Biden as the next president so that Trump could stay in office. If that's not overthrowing the legitimate government, what is?

The US military's job is to defend the country from attack from foreigners, not police American citizens.  They were dragged into the BLM demonstration to do just that and didn't like it.  You seem very blase asking them to use live ammunition against American demonstrators.  Should they have done so against black demonstrators?

Having said that, the Capitol Police whose job is to defend the Capitol, Senators and Congressmen, were offered assistance by the pentagon and other federal police agencies prior to the demonstration., It's commander refused.  So Nancy Pelosi fired him, and rightly so, for his failure to defend the capitol.  Don't blame the Pentagon. You're being political using false or selective information.

Blind. Absolutely Blind. National Guard troops have been used wherever there are riots for decades. They are called out when there is the potential for violence occurring. They've even been used to escort black children to desegregated schools and universities to protect them against racist mobs. They certainly could have been called out to protect the nation's capitol and the elected officials inside that were in the process of finalizing the election of a President of the United States.
