I think I read somewhere that Elon decided to let Alex Jones back on Twitter/X. I may be old-fashioned about nut jobs but I preferred the pre social media era when the National Enquirer "reported" on alien abductions.

There was an interesting story about how Texas National Guardsmen seemed to ignore a migrant's plea for help in the water, https://www.cnn.com/2023/12/21/us/rio-grande-migrant-texas-national-guard-help/index.html. The woman had a young child with her. The two managed to get back to safety on the Mexican shore. The Guard denied that's what happened and I don't know if there has been any resolution. A week earlier Texas denied a woman's appeal to have an abortion because of some serious health issues with her fetus. Maybe the lives of drowning migrants aren't sacred.

Some senator or other blames the Colorado court decision on "leftist extremism". Words are losing their meaning.

But no matter, here's a heart-warming story out of Mississippi about public urination, https://www.cnn.com/2023/12/13/us/mississippi-boy-arrested-urinating-book-report/index.html. Even if the police officer involved did not exercise proper judgement, I would have hoped that someone else up the ladder would have instead, but no, it seems the matter actually reached the courts. The situation might be escalating because the mother refuses to consent to the boy's probation requirements. I sympathize with her. If a former President can claim "Presidential immunity" because of some bizarre Louis XIV regal twist in US law, I don't think a 10 year old boy should be put on probation for taking a leak either. Seems like the kind of town where they'll give the woman a hard time over it, because they can.
