Printing without color management & Epson Media Installer
« on: July 19, 2020, 09:17:42 pm »

I just started using Epson Media Installer and noticed each media type that's listed has a RGB and CMYK profile associated with it; I suppose that's how it is supposed to be.  When you create a custom media type by duplicating an existing one you can only change the RGB or CMYK profile but not delete it and leave the box blank.  I thought if it were possible to delete the associated icc profile one needn't have to use Adobe Color Print Utility or PrintTool or Mirage to print icc targets.

Do PrintTool or AdobeColorPrintUtility just disable the icc profile associated with the media type before sending it to the printer?  Just curious...

Adobe Color Print Utility prints without color management but with a media setting.

The associated ICC profile “linked” when using the Epson Media Installer utility is only “invoked” when you choose “printer manages color” anyway.  So it would not be an issue.  Just use something for target printing as Andrew suggests and you’ll be “good.”

Adobe Color Print Utility (ACPU) is convenient if you're using cut sheets and you only want to fit one page of the target on one sheet of paper.  I don't see it possible layout multiple pages on a larger sheet or print multiple pages of the target on roll paper.

The only version ACPU for the Mac I could find was v1.0. Is there a later version?

As Rand47 suggested,  if the linked profile is only invoked if you choose 'printer manages color'; I could use PrintTool with 'no color management' enabled and print multiple pages of the target on roll paper  a larger sheet of the paper

There's only ever been one version of ACPU, and it DOES work in Catalina, despite the warning message!

PrintTool works fine as well!
