And when we open up, we will have a second wave with more people dying.

There will be no second wave in the US. You're opening up before your first wave has peaked, so the first wave will just get bigger and bigger. 60,000+ deaths per month, until someone starts taking it seriously.

Then I am all for it.  Like I said, I'd rather pay less now then more later.

But I'll keep on waiting two more weeks, and two more weeks after that, and two more weeks after that ... eventually if I go long enough we'll all be dead.

Going back to population density, their largest city is about a 1/10 the density of NYC.
Bratislava, at 423,000 people is about 1/20 the size of NYC's 8 million +.  400,000+ Chinese visited NYC during the period in question.  61,000 Chinese visited all of the whole country of Slovakia in 2017.  I couldn't find the number visiting just Bratislava.  But it seems that NYC was hard hit with visitors who brought the virus with them.

Man this is starting to snow ball for Joe Biden.

University Of Delaware board members, who are keeping Biden's Senate records secret, have close ties to the former VP

Makes you wonder, is there something in those documents that confirms Tara Reade's story?

However, I have all the faith in Joe now that Clinton is on his team.  She'll send over her server scrubbers and staffers with hammers and matches to take care of it for him.

This virus is not going away and we will not have a vaccine soon enough for us to stay locked inside.  So the only way to combat it is by having those whom are not vulnerable catch and develop immunity.  The longer we stay in, the longer this will take.

So, with young people going out, yes older people will need to stay locked up still, but they would have to anyway if we did not open up.  So I really dont see your point here with "never be able to leave their homes."  By allowing heard immunity to develop sooner, older people will be able to come out sooner as well.

Well I'm one of them and you may be right.  What I'm hoping for not in any particular order: 1. The virus dies a natural death like the seasonal flu. 2. A drug is found to reverse the actions of the disease so those infected will survive. 3. A vaccine is developed, hopefully sooner than later.  4. That my community develops herd immunity that will protect me for short term and if it should come back next year in the same form. 5. That the virus will not come back in a different form so we have to start over. 6. That should  I get it, I'll survive relatively intact and not pass it on to my wife or others.

Have a missed something?

If something really bad comes out,  Biden may be out and replaced by someone more challenging to Trump.  Watch what you pray for.  :)

If something really bad comes out,  Biden may be out and replaced by soemone more challenging to Trump.  Watch what you pray for.  :)

Although that is a possibility, I just don't think they can drop Biden and then look over Bernie, who's still the race with the clear 2nd place position, without starting a war.

Presumably they would only be able to do this at the convention, too close to the general to risk a war in the party.  They are now stuck with Biden, just like they were stuck with Hillary.  If I was in the upper tier of the party, I'd be having a lot of sleepless nights.

Plus, who do they have?  Cuomo cant be it.  Sure the media are really being positive with him right now, but he waited 8 days after Trump said to close down everything to close down NY.  He also put in place a total disastrous retirement home policy that lead to many unnecessary deaths of seniors.  And there are also some very strong rumors of corruption in his administration in Albany contracts given out due to pay backs.  So it is a tough position they are in.

Trump of course has his issues, but Trump is a mud monster.  You sling mud at him, he just ends up with more mud looking pretty much the same.  Nothing really sticks anymore, but Biden is suppose to be as pure as snow.  Slinging mud at him just stands out so much more, just like with Hillary.

This is slowly reverting back to being a referendum on Biden, and the best part is the progressive media is the one pushing it.  It was a progressive group that found the Larry King clip.

It's pretty amazing that in the 2016 and 2020 elections we came up with Trump, Biden and Hillary as the best people Americans want to run America.  ???

Yep, just like always, you only need to wait two more weeks, right?  And if it does not happen in two weeks, wait two more and so on.  Eventually the end of the world will get here.

I'm getting tired of this "just two weeks" or "in the coming weeks" bull shit every one keeps on using.  LA mayor said that they would look like NYC 6 weeks ago in a month and that did not happen.

Well reality right now Joe is way too many people are dying daily, over 2,000...and that seems to just continue week after week...so yes, another 2 weeks. You might be tired of hearing it, but just look at reality.

Congrats, you found a hand full of stories that contradict the vast majority of stories that downplayed it.  I like that one Jan. 29th story; what happened shortly after that story ran?  Trump shut down travel to/from China.

Also, that Joe Biden article would ring better if he did not turn around and say closing down travel to China was racist, and again saying closing down travel to Europe was not necessary.

Joe, you will note that, although I quoted your post, I did not "reply" to you because your responses are so predictable...it was really a matter of placing on record a complete rebuttal of your assertions. 50 articles from one mainstream media outlet you call a "hand full"? Do me a favour!

I forgot to mention one other factor: it has become clear that the White House received numerous - let's call them a "hand full" of briefings - from the intelligence services stressing the urgency as early as early January.

Who knows how the media (and others) would have responded had they also received such high-quality information?

How many articles are published a day from a single source today?

But I'll repeat myself, the majority of the stories were downplaying it, and this has been shown repeatably.  Not t mention every Dem downplayed it too and admonished Trump for shutting down travel, including Biden.

Niether the Dems nor the Republicans have anything to stand on here.

LOL.

I am pretty sure I already had this, but would surely catch it if it meant I can go outside without being punished.  Sorry, I am not going to live in fear over this highly survivable virus.

They were very rigorous in closing all their borders on March 12 and in enforcing the tests and masks in public.

Quote
Slovakia closed its borders to non residents and erected other restrictions to confront the outbreak of coronavirus in Europe. The country situated between the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Austria and Ukraine will also close international airports, schools, bars and clubs and impose mandatory quarantine for anyone returning from abroad.

Economically and socially interconnected with other European countries, Slovakia is relearning how to live surrounded by walls. While the coronavirus crisis has invoked anxiety in a society that has not yet fully recovered from the traumatic experience of living under a communist regime in a divided Europe, the stronger borders that have come with the crisis have alleviated apprehension for many.

The country has seemingly achieved a first-mover advantage: a border shutdown and aggressive social distancing measures were introduced ahead of the curve compared to other European countries. These measures have helped keep fatalities and rates of new cases very low.

I think, what people are missing is the fact this virus is very different from the other viruses, so many of the assumptions you listed above may not apply in this situation.

America isn't Slovakia.   When Slovakia closed its borders, no one noticed.

Those weren't assumptions.  They are a list of positive possibilities.  Most people here are so negative.  They think the world's ending.  It isn't.  Be happy if you got up this morning.
