The study was of random people walking on the sidewalk, so certainly there is a selection bias.  It has to be kept in mind that people walking the sidewalk are more likely to catch it, but if a third of those have it I have to ask, whats the point of this anymore.

Are you suggesting people could sue the government for improper medical care?  That's an interesting question.  Does medical malpractice apply in this situation?  Can a hospital be sued?  Can the government be sued for not having appropriate PPE for example?  I think we're going to find out pretty soon when some lawyers decide to file a test lawsuit. That's a good question. I would have some other questions about the study -- Fox News would not be my choice for accurate reporting, and one-third seems really unlikely, when other surveys have suggested that the numbers of infected are in the low single digits in terms of percentages -- but it is a good question. It would seem to me, logically, that mass testing with contact tracing would be, in practical terms, fruitless at some point. I think we need widespread testing but for individual medical information -- does the patient have it, do I have it, have I had it (for symptom-free individuals) etc. If you've had it, and are now recovered, you could go back to work -- or even volunteer to help with charitable work like food banks, where you might be more exposed to the virus.

I looked back at that Santa Clara County survey that you cited (the "85x" survey), and that survey suggests that even at the highest bound, the 85 end, less than five percent of county residents were infected. So a third in Massachusetts? I seriously doubt it.

However, that doesn't mean that at some point, we shouldn't forget about mass testing and go to medical-based individual testing, and that we might not already be there.

I'm just trying to let everyone know that you are the only one that was mislead...everyone else understood what the data was saying. The poster must not have mislead very much as only one, you, had problems with the data. Maybe that says more about you than anyone else.

Alan, I did not "mislead" in any way, I omitted the full context and your reaction was what I expected - immediate, instinctual defence. All you needed to say was, "this does not make sense!"

Now, I apologise for "misleading" you, it was not my intention to humiliate you. I have tried to engage with you and Joe constructively and Joe and, wait for it.....Slobodan(!) have been quite positive and reasoned. Joe, I take my hat off to you because you acknowledged that your response was a bit hasty and you had other things on your mind.
