Maybe he did not have the authority to lock down a state...but he sure could have been a leader in convincing the people that this was the only plan they had to fight the outbreak. You know...what a real leader does...not contradict the experts...not fight with the states...actually LEAD.

+1 No-one seems so have made that point anywhere, a leader does not need force people to follow them....

Can't help feeling sorry for Birx and Fauci, who have to stand there every day listening to his interminable drivel. Surely they have better things to do?

I think that was his brother Chris.  Today he says he never said, did'nt mean that despite tape showing he did....

Yes, that is right, it was Chris.

Amazing what happens when a good amount of money is hung over your head.

Dont know if you notice, but both Fauci and Birx are getting significantly more annoyed by the press then Trump.  Watch the pressers and you can tell both of their patience is up for the media's BS.

Been listening to the Biden and Bernie live stream, and all I can say is get ready for 4 more years of Trump.

I just really cant understand Biden, both from a comprehension standpoint and from a policy one.  Biden trounced Bernie because he is a moderate, and yet he starts talking about putting forth far left wing policies Bernie was touting?  ???

All the Dems had to do was not go crazy and you just could not help yourself.  You had to go crazy far left wing, lol.

FYI, in the latest polling nationally Biden's lead against Trump has evaporated.

If  you want to know what is government overreach and harassment, Serbia is having a 84-hour house arrest for (Orthodox) Easter next weekend.

Interesting observations;

So we decided to go out today and replenish our food supplies today.  We got some produce, meats and variuos goodies that had run out over last 3-4 weeks.

We went to tow different stores. Costco and Meijers ( a local chain supermarket)

Costco was an strange experience.  A line at the door and a wait for at least 20 mins.  Only 50 groups of shopers inthe store at any given time.  Seeing that few people at a Costco was weird.  The shelves were pretty much fully stocked, including a mountain of toilet paper.  Meat cases and produce we full.  No sanitizing or similar wipes and no masks.  Every other checkout lane was open wiht the now standard plexiglass panel between shopper and customer. There were constant announcements about social distancing and they had an employee making sure everyone stayed spaced during checkout. Every employee had on masks and gloves and I estimate at least 60-70 percent of customers had on masks.  I did not notice any increase in pricing.

Meijers was a completly differnt experience .  Meijers is a regional chain and is a very nice store.  Thye were also well stocked, and as usual many of their items were on sale.  They have a great produce department and it was full.  As few shortages here and their, mostly paper goods, cleaning suppiles, some milk products and some frozen goods. The biggest difference was the level of safety or rather the lack of it. Most employees did not waer a mask or gloves, but they did have the plexiglass shields.  They were, like Costco, cleaning carts for each customer and had hand sanitizer at may locations within the store.  Only an estimated 10 to 15% of customers were wearing masks which I was less than happy to see.

All in all an interesting trip and eye opening in many respects.  Hated to go out but we are not doing too bad in our county for covid 19 infections. 171 cases and 17 deaths.  We took precautions.  Masks and eye glasses.  Hand sanitizer often.  We wiped each food item with santitizing wipes before it entered the house.  Our shoes never entered the house, and we washed our hands quite a few times as we cleaned and put away our purchases.  We washed out coats and hats, along with the clothes we wore and then took a shower.  Maybe overkill but we have nothing but time on our hands so why not.  Even the car got a sanitizing wipe down.

You did notice didn't you that the vast majority of the powers rest with the States and not the Federal government. And the powers of the Federal government are really quite limited. And finally the fact that the Federal government using them comes with the distict possibility of court intevention started by states who dont want thier power exempted.

Sorry Alan, this is political, came across these two articles on politico.com today.

Some states don't know how to get supplies, https://www.politico.com/news/2020/04/13/states-baffled-coronavirus-supplies-trump-179199. Should this be happening?

Politico is also providing reports that Trump may be playing favourites with some states, https://www.politico.com/news/2020/04/14/democrats-donald-trump-coronavirus-184382. Should this be happening?
The Fed has supplied all PPE that the states need.  In fact there's more than they need.  The Fed made up for the responsibility the states had to provide PPE.

For example, the hard-hit NYC owns and operate 11 major hospitals with a $6.8 billion budget.  Combined,NYS and NYC spend over quarter of a trillion, yes trillion,  in their budgets including $70 billion for Medicaid health care.  Why weren't they prepared?  Why didn't they have the PPE and ventilators?  It's their job.  Mayor De Blasio running around flapping his lips complaining about the Federal government while he's off to his gym working out every day. What a bozo.  At least Gov Cuomo had the courtesy to thank Trump for his help.  Trump and the Feds gave them the equipment they should have had stocked beforehand, built additional hospitals they never used, even one of two Navy hospital ships they barely used.

Yeh...that's all I heard on the news...that Trump lost it. So much for commander in chief when things get hot.
For four years, the press have been unmerciless on him charging treason and gleeful at the impeachment. Every phoney charge has been magnified.  Frankly, any other man would have cracked a long time ago.  The fact he holds up so long is surprising.  I would have quit in 2017.

Come on now.  Trump really likes to have some Trump and the media really likes some media.  Trump just recognizes this and is playing it back at them.

I think Andrew Cuomo said it best yesterday on a radio show when he said he no longer has any interest in what he does professionally.  And by that he specifically said the hyper partisanship and going out of the way to make certain politicians sound bad.
Cuomo's playing the long game for 2024.

I'm referring to Democrat Gov Andrew Cuomo of NY.

Trump is like the movie star...complains about the paparazzi when they are onto him...but when it gets quiet he does something stupid to gain that spotlight again. He's predictable in that he can't go too long without tweeting something controversial just to raise shit.

The Federal and state governments have to do this together. It'll be a joint effort.

Why? Can't Trump just let the 30 day guidelines expire, call the hospital ships back to port, and have the army disassemble the field hospitals? I'm not sure what else he has to do. Oh, take delivery of the ventilators from GM-Vantec sometime next month, assuming he actually ordered them. What is he going to do without a daily "press conference" to hear himself talk and argue with the press.

You know Ive been watching the howls from the left about Trump saying he would be the one to open up the country.

It's genius.  In one fell swoop the destoyed the argument that he should and could have closed down the country eariler.  All the smucks going nuts now took the bait hook line and sinker.

It’s the exact opposite.

He just admitted with utmost clarity that he thinks he fully had the power to close down the country over the authority of the States but decided not to.

He clearly admitted his full responsibility in the delayed reaction to the pandemic and the derived responsibility about the passing away of thousands of citizens.

Cheers,
Bernard

Dismantling the WHO in the middle of a global pandemic. He's out of his mind.
