Yes, nothing was in place...no test kits, no ventilators, no masks...nothing.

We had vents and masks and ppe, just not enough to make up for the lack of planning is some of hte individual states.  The Stockpile was depleted in 09 by Obama and not refilled. If you want to blame Trump for not doing it after he was elected, thats fair but you need to ask if he was even told.  Tests had to be made to match the virus and that had to wait for samples, which were not easy to get.  Then the CDC screwed up the test kit and then the FDA had regs in place making it difficult to near impossible to have outside testing done.  There was a team in Washington State  ready to do just that and the FDA said no. That cluster continued until Trump nuked the rules.  So you want to blame Trump for that.

Now the scramble us on. The crack down on social distancing occurred too late after all the partying in Florida and New Orleans...and before you bring in the states are responsible...I'm sure Trump has some overriding command he could I still which would force the states to comply.

Please quote me the law that would have allowed Trump to force shutdowns of States to force social distancing.  Ive not found one that works yet and I've done a bunch of research, but if I'm wrong I'll be happy to admit it.

Also there was no screening of US citizens coming from abroad...in fact coming from China nor mandatory self quaranteen for 14 days.

Actually we did screen citizens returning and we did quarenteen them for 14 days, and I point first to the US citizens airlifted from Wuhan.  We also screen passengers returning after Mar 13 from Europe after there were travel restrictions in place.  There was a big stink about how long it took to get them through the airports. And on it goes. You think we did nothing, and thats not even close to the truth.

Sure I'm looking at these measures with hindsight...but we expect our Commander in Chief not to look in hindsight, but foresight and take the necessary steps to avert catastrophe.

The US started working on the virus and the protection of the US in earnest in early January.  The problem was the data was a mess and evolving daily.  Even as late as Feb 5 the scientists and Dr. Fuaci were stating it would most like not be a big problem for the US.  So what is it you would do?  Hindsight is 2020.

Trillions are spent foreward looking at terrorist attacks...yet this pandemic is doing so many magnitudes more damage than all terrorist attacks combined. Truly if there was a desire to do so, this virus I could have been handled much better saving thousands of lives. Now everyone is in chaos mode and looking to blame others.

That boggles my mind.  You contend that the admistration didn't want to try and protect America?

Added on edit:

Just as a data point 3.4 MILLION travelers from overseas arrived in the US in Dec, Jan and Feb.  750k of those were from China.  On the 15th of Jan the WHO was saying there was no human to human transmission.  We did not have our first case until Jan 29.

You are starting to sound like Trump...blame everyone else...Obama, China, WHO, CDC...and the beat goes on. Buck certainly does not stop with Trump.

What about the projected 45k more dead.

Amazing how you keep on moving the goal post lower and lower down field.

7700 people die a day in the USA normally, or over 50K a week.  I feel like if only one person died, you would still say Trump has blood on his hands.

Seriously?  So you think Trump is responsible for Obama not filling the stockpile and leaving it empty for Trump?  Di Trump fill it?, and I admit he missed that.  You think trump is to blame for China not being honest with the world?  You think Trump is responsible for the WHO being in China's back pocket?  And as an aside to that its reported than many of the informants we had inside China wer killed by China lowering our ability to see what was happening on the ground. You blame Trump for the CDC producing faulty tests?

Ultimately it will be Trump that will bear the brunt of all these other failures not of his doing and those that are.  That comes with the position. The votes will decide if he stays or goes.

My oh my the Trump derangement syndrome runs deep in you.

I am trying to figure out what the hell this is, like seriously.

Who is Biden hiring for his graphic design and adverts.  Taking away the absolute silliness of talking about fig newtons and PBJs during a pandemic and using that clip for the advertisements, this looks like something out of the 60s and 70s.

Who's the target audience for this design?  How old is the creative director working on his projects?  Who's in charge of art direction?

I remember when I first started my business, I designed my own first business card.  A graphic designer took one look at it and said, "this looks like you're 50, just going bald but trying to still look hip."  That's not how you want your graphic material to look.

Well 2500 died from 911. 50,000 died during the Vietnam war. 400,000 died during wwii.

Why do we even care as 50k a week die anyway.

Personally I don't give a rats ass who is elected as its really just a puppet there for the big boys with all the money to pull strings. If you really can't see that then time to change your glasses. All these primaries, elections, bi-elections etc... are just for our entertainment...and entertaining they do.

For the sake of judge appointments and rebuilding the government infrastructure (stuff like a pandemic response team, EPA, health care, etc) I do.
I'll take whoever gets me closer to that direction even if they may not have been my first choice when the field was wider.

Is this really who you want as your president? Someone who speaks--and thinks--like mentally defective 5th grader?

I'd say it's more like a first grader. Can't get together a sentence that makes sense.

Few years ago before pot was legal there was this older fellow who grew pot and sold some to supplement his pension. He guarded his acerage using bears that he domesticated by feeding them sweets and fish. When he got busted he was charged under the wildlife act for endangering wildlife...nothing for his pot.
