In this report https://www.politico.com/news/2020/04/08/pence-fauci-reopen-country-plan-coronavirus-175792, there is only a mention of the WH releasing a framework in the coming days, not actually starting the rollout of asymptomatic workers. Fauci himself did not give a date about that but did say it will still be a while.

Infection may be topping out in places hardest hit, but that doesn't mean it won't continue to get worse elsewhere, no evidence of that. Seems like the opposite to me, I'm not seeing a big change in slope in any of the Worldometer curves.

Besides, do we know for sure that people who have gotten over it are not contagious? It would be reasonable, that's what happens in other infections, but has it been shown? Italy and Spain are showing major changes in their curves and they're only talking about easing in several weeks' time.
Our only hope to avoid secondary infections or this thing sweeping across the continent over months and months  is that it dies out a natural death due to the changing of the seasons.

People do not go out to vote against someone, they go out to vote for some one, and no body is excited to vote for Joe Biden.

And that comes against the views of all analysts that have explained very clearly that Trump won because of people who voted against Hilary...

Thé reality is that Trump has already lost whoever will be facing him.

Cheers,
Bernard

No, that won’t happen. I was on skype yesterday with a good friend in Manilla where the pandemic is spreading horribly.

The temperature is currently 37C.

The only model that works in simulations is confinement on and off in phases until a vaccine is found, which may take more than a year.

Cheers,
Bernard

I don't think the situations between the Philippines are the US are comparable. The cities of the Philippines, even small ones, tend to be much more dense than even fairly large American cities. And when summer comes in the US, you get a lot more of what Id call natural social-distancing. People get out of their houses, universities and schools are on summer vacation, etc. So I think we might see some seasonal decline. However, when the country opens up, and Autumn arrives...here it comes again.

You know what this forum needs? A member who lives in Vegas, so we could use him to place bets on the upcoming election. I'm pretty sure I could get 4-1 or 5-1 on Trump winning from some of our members, thereby teaching them a lesson they'd not be likely to forget. 8-)

I didn't say anything about temperatures.  I said the season is changing and many things affect life cycles.  At least that's what I'm hoping for.  What are you hoping for?

Hillary did win the popular vote, and by quite a bit. And only a few thousand votes spread across three states kept her from winning the electoral vote.
Hillary's problem was that the Democrats nominated her because somehow they felt it was her turn, and that she was better than Bernie, which she probably was. But she was unlikeable, arrogant, too far left, provably corrupt and a woman, when not all states are ready to elect a woman.

Look, here's what we're going to get. Imagine Trump in a really unflattering photograph looking quite a lot like Porky Pig. We start the commercial showing body bags being hauled out of hospitals (I've seen this shot on cable news already), then a number comes up --80,000 dead -- or whatever, then video of Trump saying, It'll be gone in fifteen days, or it'll be zero, or any of a number of other things he said, and then freeze frame on the Porky Pig shot. Or this: The Navy Captain walks down the gangway while hundreds of sailors are shouting "Captain Crozier, Captain Crozier" then Trump said, "He was really bad..." Freeze on the Porky Pig image. Or a shot of Cuomo saying, "We've got a war on our hands" then the Porky Pig shot: "I"m number 1 on Facebook."

There are dozens of possibilities, all with real gut-wrenching emotion tied to them. You think a shot of poor old Sleepy Joe standing in front of a bookcase is going to drive voting? I think you're the one who's dreaming, Joe. The good thing about it, of course, is that we'll find out.

Yea we mostly likely will see those ads but they will backfire, imo.  People just might suprise you.  But it of course it could go either way, but like you said, we will see.

Getting back to work and getting the economy moving again.
Sounds vague enough to support just about any date.

When I made that prediction, everyone here was figuring things might open up in the fall or later. May 5th is a very optimistic date, especially when I made it.  Let's be optimistic. I realize you don't like Trump.  But wouldn't it be great if it ends sooner and we can get back to normal living?

And thats basically what Trump just said, and that he will take the suggestions of his advisors in making his decisions.

Rigth now, the date is May 4 for the manufactures I work with, with a caveat that the date could be pushed back if needed.

The wonders of the American Press. During a Q&A at today CV press conference, some dipshit reporter asked Trump if he watched Tiger King and what he thought of the lead actor.  Really?

I am obviously hoping that as few people as possible are affected and suffer from the disease.

In this context false hope can kill.

If the aspects of summer you hope will help isn’t temperature but natural social distancing then there is no reason to wait, it can be done today.

Every comment I have made here is aligned with this hope.

Bernard

You have of course understood that this was a form of protest against the way the press is treated by Trump when they ask real questions?

Bernard

Let's hope they don't push it back and you can get working for them again.  I think you're getting a little stir crazy.  Plus I'd like to see some more of your great RV pictures so I can dream a little.  :)

Are you serious?  The American Press has seriously lost their credibility a long time ago.  Trump has just made it obvious.

Joe Exotica is serving a long prison sentence for something and wrote Trump for a pardon. Don Jr. talked about it on some radio show or podcast a couple of days ago. So it isn't entirely out of left field. It wouldn't have been my first question though. I don't know who the reporter works for.
