Today, I called two dentists, and in both cases, I got recorded greeting "Sorry, we are closed as of March 14, and should reopen by April 13". They didn't even update the recording, no indication how much longer it will last. Lot of receptionists, dental technicians, dentists and surgeons are out of work now. And they can't even take that safari trip or cruise now. Same for physiotherapy and all kinds of other medical offices.
Well it really depends how professional these people really are. My daughter-in-law is an ophthalmologist and along with her 3 other partners, takes turns manning the phones at her clinic and taking calls, doing analysis of situations and if care is needed, directing the patients to her competition which is fully covered to deal with patients during the virus spread. They get paid zero for this, but are doing this service for their existing customers.
My dentist has worked through the entire lockdown, mostly prescribing medication for people's needs, but also performing whatever service is needed for emergency situations. My tooth cap came off about a month ago. She left some glue for me outside her clinic and told me how to reattach the cap. Worked fine. She charged nothing for this.
I had a virtual doctor appointment and he arranged to have my blood drawn for tests in a private environment. Called me to follow up letting me know everything with my kidneys are finee.
My wife had a virtual appointment with her neurologist to review her Parkinson's progress. The result, my wife's drugs were adjusted and her new prescription was ready at the pharmacy which delivered to our door.
I don't understand all these medical professionals being down for business...sure not here.
