Don't get me wrong, I hope the team that he put into place does a fantastic job. That's EXACTLY the kind of thing public authorities should be doing. And they were doing it till he fired them. I guess this way he can claim credit. Most people can probably live with that so long as it works, that's what a lot politics is now, feeding narcissists' egos.

That depends entirely on the accuracy of the reported figures. While the death figure is probably reasonably accurate, the number of cases is likely to be a significant underestimate, as it will probably exclude all those who have only mild symptoms.

But that's true for the Corona flu as well as the normal yearly flu. In fact I'd say given the focus on the Corona virus I would say the reported numbers are more accurate than the reported numbers for the regular flu.

Are you really serious?  He was standing with memebers of the CDC and had just finished a meeting with a much larger group.  One would think they would have the most up to date information.  So in your world, Trump, having just finished meeting on the topic and standing with the members of the team, just made it up, instead of the New York Times using a number from an unknown time frame writing to make Trump look bad.

Usually, I start with Spiegel (they are surprisingly quick with reporting events in the whole world) and if I see an interesting article, instead of quoting it in German, I quickly look up that very topic on Google, and whatever comes first, I use for the quote. If you look at my previous posts, you'll see there all kinds of references (however, I avoid Al Jazeera, Chinadaily and Pravda). Sometimes, if I don't find equivalent article in the English press, I might attempt my own translation for the benefit of LuLa readers.
