I was almost scared that https://forum.phaseone.com/En/index.php got screwed... but no - it still there and looks way better than P1's new excercise
Oops, they replaced it !!! Damn ... what a stupid idea
The hardware and software businesses have been split into separate business units. Still under the same parent as far as I know.
Previously they benefited greatly from the extensive support framework that a hardware business like PhaseOne required. The software guys now need to bear all of their own support costs (rightly so) and only time will tell if they are up to the job. Splitting a company into separate business units is usually positive as management can focus solely on their own business / needs.
A lot will depend on how important they believe support to be to their business success. The support issues raised by their upgrade pricing for the C20 launch appeared to overwhelm there new support system with support people actually saying the delays were caused by this issue. Full marks for transparency.
At present, support and user forums are not looking great but it is early days. Capture One management need to get a firm grip on the situation quickly. Any company needs to do this but particularly one that positions itself at the top end of the market on price.
The other obvious aspect to consider is that splitting a company into separate business units is a precursor to selling the businesses. I would guess there are some people on this forum with first hand experience, I know I have :-)
Capture One staff live in interesting times :-) Best wishes to them.
