Interesting!  And now that I now how to spell it, I discovered this bit of history from 1985, about the Kodak take-over:

A sad quote in hind-sight: "Analysts said the acquisition was part of Kodak's campaign to reduce its dependence on its traditional photography business" with other efforts including "last year Kodak has expanded its production of floppy disks ...".

A great find, but NYT had it wrong as most of use in the early development felt after we interfaced with Kodak Digital for a year or two.
I still stick by my belief they either hired the dumbest group to run it or we were right to think they wanted to keep film alive.
The digital group did come out with a great color printer BUT they had no idea how to price and market it.  That was another dud from
Kodak - If I remember right it was priced at $25K!!
