A little nervous about posting, but I would like some insight from others to help me get better.

Don't be nervous. Welcome! I like very much the dark enigmatic tones matching the composition. Unique, in my experience.

Welcome to LuLa, Comb. There's a thread somewhere on originality in photography. What you just posted is one of the most original pictures I've seen on here. It shows that creativity in photography is possible.

Very distinctive look. What post processing software are you using?

Ditto. I remember stuff from Coot posted a few years ago that was similar.

I appreciate the feedback. Sorry, I don’t know who Coot is. Back story is I have been off and on with photography for better than 20 years. But tapered off after college and access to a darkroom. Some years back my wife and I had our first child and she wanted pics. My answer was to get an updated camera vs paying for someone else. Kind of got me back in the game and enjoying it. Cruising dirt roads is how I wind down at times. I rounded a corner any thought “this would make a good black and white”. Simple as that. Using me as kind of an anonymous foreground interest is a concept I have been working on, but has proven more difficult than thought. I like this one more than most I have tried. In reference to a question from Faberryman, just Lightroom.

So it's a selfie?  If I had to guess, I would say New Mexico.

I instantly thought of the shot of the guy and the Jeep (?) too!

Guess we both like and remember Cooter's work!

Really? You don't remember the Cooter set? If memory serves, they were an advertising series of frames for male clothing, but that's hardly the point. They were in colour, if that helps jog the memory.

Maybe before your closer intetest in LuLaLand? That could explain it.

None of this is to knock the new man's picture; welcome to the snake pit, combs!

Wow, thanks for all the good feedback. I’m very open to some critique too. Like I said, this is just an idea I have had for a while. I went to a drive last Saturday and tried the same concept. The light sucked and I knew it, but I was out and might as well shoot something. This was me again, with my meth lab this time. I don’t care for the pic, but what are your thoughts on the concept?

I find both of these images quite arresting, so for me your concept works, even if it's not my own style.

Welcome! Fine shots, both. I think I'd prefer the second if it had as little of you as the first (that's not a personal comment!). Cropping a little off the left would add mystery.
