Hi Rob, I completely understand your position and the issue you have with what 'n' why, it's when you start applying your position and issue to others in general and amateurs in particular - so most of LuLa - that I begin to take issue.

;-)

I haven't noticed "others in general" taking particular umbrage at my personal beliefs; in fact, as they have mostly never had the other side of the photographic equation with which to compare, I'm sure they don't see things from that perspective at all - how could they?

If this is somehow an extension of the "street" discussion, then I am on the same playing field as the rest, in fact, for who ever that did street ever made a buck from it unless you want to include the latter day art photographer bunch, which I don't put into the pro category at all - they do something quite else. In medical terms, I think of the gulf between faith healers and the qualified specialists who saved both your life and mine. Guys like HC-B did documentary for left-wing magazines and then, through Magnum, for any magazine that wanted to buy.

Yesterday's sunshine is todays friggin´gale, and the joys of loading and unloading a bootfull of shopping when the lid can't stay up of its own power. In times such as this, photographuy doesn't even register, though LuLa and my nose for news does.

Rob, it's my personal belief that the work I'm doing now is far more rewarding than when financial reward was a part of the equation, but I would never suggest that this belief in any way applies to or is of interest to anyone other than me.

Color, for color’s sake.  Light, for light’s sake.

Picking up on the colour scheme. Not exact, but contains variants of blue, yellow, white and "hot sauce".

Two things: Cool shot Ivo; and did you paint the gentleman crossing the street?

Well three things: I don't understand the purpose of this thread. What are you looking for? It seems to me this thread includes all the things you railed against in the beginning.

Hi JR.

No, I didn’t paint the walker. The light was fantastic at that moment. There is a building reflecting the early sunshine and spreading that ‘shine’

About the thread.
Statement: Color photography is much more difficult to master than B&W.
I know this is a bold statement, but the thread proves itself.
It is said that color distracts. I don’t agree, color adds an extra element.
It is true, for some photographers, color is a burden. When color photography is practiced, the element ‘color’ seems to push away all other skills to make a good image.
The topic is a bit of provocation and the purpose is to challenge all who is interested in color photography.

Some contributions are fine examples of good photography, others an example of how color can be more difficult to handle.

I find it interesting to see how different peoples approach ‘color’

Tx for asking.

Kind regards. Ivo.

From a few weeks ago. I slipped and got my feet wet so then I just walked around the river anyway to get this perspective. Worth it.  8)
