What does that look like knitted up?

Actually, quite nice. Light, airy and depending on the yarn used it could be very colourful.

Here is a rather large image collection of finished garments, made from the "ladder yarn".

CTB. Color Temperature Black.
Good image that reminds me of a shot from Sarah Moon's story in Paris on "Little Red Riding Hood" where the child has this huge shadow on the wall of a thing more dragon-like than wolf.
Menace in the darks.

That's photography, after a while; after you crack the how-to, then it becomes a matter of what 'n' why, the why being the most difficult.
Surprisingly, there are folks who believe that when you confront that gigantic why, you are being negative rather than realistic and, dare I say it, pragmatic?
Jolly good fun, isn't it?
;-)

Question: Was pragmatism your driver to have sex?

Hi Rob, I completely understand your position and the issue you have with what 'n' why, it's when you start applying your position and issue to others in general and amateurs in particular - so most of LuLa - that I begin to take issue.

I haven't noticed "others in general" taking particular umbrage at my personal beliefs; in fact, as they have mostly never had the other side of the photographic equation with which to compare, I'm sure they don't see things from that perspective at all - how could they?
If this is somehow an extension of the "street" discussion, then I am on the same playing field as the rest, in fact, for who ever that did street ever made a buck from it unless you want to include the latter day art photographer bunch, which I don't put into the pro category at all - they do something quite else. In medical terms, I think of the gulf between faith healers and the qualified specialists who saved both your life and mine. Guys like HC-B did documentary for left-wing magazines and then, through Magnum, for any magazine that wanted to buy.
Yesterday's sunshine is todays friggin´gale, and the joys of loading and unloading a bootfull of shopping when the lid can't stay up of its own power. In times such as this, photographuy doesn't even register, though LuLa and my nose for news does.
;-)
-
Rob, it's my personal belief that the work I'm doing now is far more rewarding than when financial reward was a part of the equation, but I would never suggest that this belief in any way applies to or is of interest to anyone other than me.

This is very nice. Color and light. Things are coming together!!

Picking up on the colour scheme. Not exact, but contains variants of blue, yellow, white and "hot sauce".

Two things: Cool shot Ivo; and did you paint the gentleman crossing the street?
Well three things: I don't understand the purpose of this thread. What are you looking for? It seems to me this thread includes all the things you railed against in the beginning.

Hi JR.
No, I didn’t paint the walker. The light was fantastic at that moment. There is a building reflecting the early sunshine and spreading that ‘shine’
About the thread.
Statement: Color photography is much more difficult to master than B&W.
I know this is a bold statement, but the thread proves itself.
It is said that color distracts. I don’t agree, color adds an extra element.
It is true, for some photographers, color is a burden. When color photography is practiced, the element ‘color’ seems to push away all other skills to make a good image.
The topic is a bit of provocation and the purpose is to challenge all who is interested in color photography.
Some contributions are fine examples of good photography, others an example of how color can be more difficult to handle.
I find it interesting to see how different peoples approach ‘color’
Tx for asking.
Kind regards. Ivo.
-
Okay. Color it is.

From a few weeks ago. I slipped and got my feet wet so then I just walked around the river anyway to get this perspective. Worth it. 8)

An image that relies on colour to work and an example of how one colour can influence others (skin tones in particular) and in my view to the benefit of the whole.

Hahaha, what's your point? This applies to the majority of your images... ;-)

Yes. This is a marvelous color picture.
But I wonder how many would have corrected the skin tone?
;-)
-
A crude experiment of mine from around 1973 (slide sandwich). The majority of what I knew about colour photography at the time was its use in representing "reality". Because I have never had formal photography or art training, it was only by poking around in libraries, bookstores or galleries that I became aware of photographers such as Ernst Haas, or the fields of colour used by some of the abstract expressionists, or ever mused about the emotional impact of colour. I don't have any specific recollection of intent regarding this image. But it always brings to mind a line from Joni Mitchell's song Chelsea Morning: And the sun poured in like butterscotch and stuck to all my senses.

I would have corrected it. Not saying that would be correct or better but I would have done that.

Music and pictures.......
Illustrating lyrics with photo’s is one of my favorite time of use.
I don’t dare to start a thread for it.

Understood, I think many would.
The reason I decided to capture the image was because of the colour cast from the intense green walls, how this contrasted to the other room where I was standing and a desire to capture the subject as it was.

I fully respect your interpretation, it’s your image and it well seen and well executed. We all have our own styles.

I was taken aback at how well this one turned out. It was taken taken on outing with my Camera Club.

Can't go wrong ;) I actually have a whole series of race car liveries shot to semi-abstraction. They make cool wall pieces for certain types of homes.

Thank you Ivo and John B. I actually won an award with this image at the club. But it caused a kerfuffle because it did not properly fit into the "category."
