I've never seen grapes grow that way, like a roof. How American! Maybe it's a way of letting Santa Ana's wind flow harmlessly beneath; a new horticultural/vinicultural aerodynamic.
This makes me think of the dreadful events in California, a real tierra del fuego. Was this fire thing always a hazard there, and if so, how come planning permission allowed so much development in what must, clearly, always have been going to be in harm's way?
