Covered bridge (actually a subway "tunnel" elevated over a valley)

Such wonderful colour in your photographs, Keith. I think at least a part of that is regional. As a small child I remember getting a sweater at Christmas from relatives in England. It was a colour unlike anything familiar to me in Canada (at least in clothes) – a shade of blue one didn't see here. It wasn't until I traveled as a young man that I began seeing different regional palettes.

Yes, stunning environmental and cultural vignette!

A Bridge Too Far (in the past), Fort Lee, New Jersey, 1968

The George Washington Bridge from the New Jersey shore.  One of my earliest attempts to create an image other than a snapshot of family members.  Made with a prewar Contax IIa my grandfather had acquired and given to my father, and (if memory serves) a Zeiss 135mm (f/4?) Sonnar lens.

Thanks, John.

Yes, certainly a large part of it is regional, deliberately seeking out colour and light that differs from our own rather bland regional palette and light in the UK. Colours such as those found in the Mediterranean, North Africa and India look perfectly at home where they are and yet often thoroughly abrasive elsewhere.

Thanks, John.

I thought perhaps the shot from Morocco - not a bridge, but echoing the arch of the previous post - would move the thread on from bridges, but thankfully these threads have a mind of their own.

I think Slobodan and Rob should try these chromium wheels on for size. Maybe you will be able to drive on the wall of the freeway like Fred Flintstone did when he was "Goggles Pizano" in one episode. Still remember that one.
