I like the first two a lot, the third less so.
The high-key effect works well for these subjects.

The first one is the strongest of the three. I'd like to see the stem eliminated. ...maybe increase contrast?

Thanks for the comments guys. It is good to get a bit of feedback when you are trying something new/different. I find it difficult to be objective particularly on shallow DOF shots as my general tendency is to crave sharpness everywhere. I do these all outdoors and the breeze never stops so focus stacking isn't on the table.

Although I like the composition/subject of the first two, FWIW, I have to say I do not care for the negative treatment; it seems somewhat "gimmicky" to me. I realize it is an esthetic choice, but I assume that is partly why you posted these in UC. I actually like the shallow DOF, by the way.

The idea of the tonal flip is to abstract things a bit more by presenting a view that doesn't fit what we are used to. However. I agree it lacks the subtlety to rock the view a bit without being obvious.

Too bad you can't figure some sort of hybrid effect. There are elements of each version (pos/neg) that are quite attractive, I think.

Yes I agree. I don't produce consistent keepers with these macro shots. Need more practice and more still air.Chuck

I can state, with confidence, that there is no rapidly moving air in space.

Loads of eclipses, though, mostly in black and white. It's because of all those deep, reflectorless settings old astronauts used to favour. Those Hasselblad and Nikon images of blue planets were pure marketing hype: fake photography. The truth lies closer to the fake moon landing pictures; you know, the ones they made in Lanzarote with early video cameras. But hey, they tried hard, so give them due respect. Remember, there was no Photoshop!

I think pills were deemed to make the condition worse; lots of C&W songs skirt around the problem with references to lonely tables and last glasses of whisky. The theory seems to be that after a few - last glasses of whisky, that is - the affected persons stops caring and has a dance with a honky-tonk angel instead, going home to find the bedroom door locked and the doghouse prepared with a pillow on which to cry.

Well, where you embraced the gentle, I seem to have gone to the dark side and embraced (from a safe distance) that crown of thorns!

Here's a different angle of the same time traveller in different manifestation - but a shadow of his former self, one might say. On the bright side, he has a first mate to accompany him this time.

This is a different image to me, perhaps because of its more abstract qualities and the fact that it is less weed-like. Given that, the inversion is less of a niggling, now, IMHO. Sorry for the serious comment
