A bleak and beautiful winter sunset at Reynisdrangar, taken during a Workshop I led in Iceland last February. Leica SL, Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-90mm and filters Formatt-Hitech Firecrest Ultra.

Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed it About the foreground patch, that is not foam, it's wet sand - I noticed that after waves retreating the sand was staying wet long enough to take a photo of it, and I waited patiently for quite some time until I found a spot where the wet sand got a shape I liked, a shape that mirrored somehow the shape of the sea stacks in the background... no luck involved, not this time at least: just observation, pre-visualisation, (very) patient wait, and speed in setting up my shot before the wet patch dried up

I really like that. Shutter speed bang on, I’m not so fond of the very misty water thing, I think this is perfect. Colour palette is lovely. Composition really works. Lovely all round.

Thank you very much indeed Martin, glad you enjoyed the water treatment and everything else here Personally, I don't have a pre-determined approach to shutter speed for water and clouds, and decide on a case-by-case basis according to the scene and the mood I am after: on a scene such as this, I definitely think that keeping shutter speed in the 10-15 seconds range gave the best results in keeping the waves textures while not being too "documentary"
