Very cool. You surly have waited for the waves, but you're also pretty lucky the the foam's shape is somewhat similar to the rock-"fingers" in the background. Good work.

About the foreground patch, that is not foam, it's wet sand - I noticed that after waves retreating the sand was staying wet long enough to take a photo of it, and I waited patiently for quite some time until I found a spot where the wet sand got a shape I liked, a shape that mirrored somehow the shape of the sea stacks in the background... no luck involved, not this time at least: just observation, pre-visualisation, (very) patient wait, and speed in setting up my shot before the wet patch dried up
