We're getting plenty of pictures of seals, birds, icebergs and ice caves, trees, rocks, sunsets, flowers, pets, landscapes, and dozens of other scenes that don't include people here on LuLa. Of course I understand why. Shooting people -- effective street photography in particular -- requires you to screw up your courage and face the possibility that somebody might speak a discouraging word if they see you shoot their picture. It also requires you to learn what the Shadow knew: how to cloud men's minds. Of course you always have less success with that when you're dealing with women, but you need to learn to do that too.
I'll go way out on a limb and say that any human is more interesting than a seal, a bird, an iceberg or ice cave, a tree, a rock, a sunset, a flower, a dog or a cat, or a landscape. Yet we have a landscape showcase but no street showcase.
I should have titled this post "Street Photography." Next time I'll try to remember to correct that.
