If you think having RAW histograms on your camera could be a good idea, think of signing and spreading this request among your photographic contacts, other forums, social networks or any place related to photography:

https://www.change.org/p/camera-manufacturers-include-raw-histograms-on-digital-cameras-8ad3dda3-5b22-4438-83e2-0e18689db4ab?recruiter=106611380&utm_source=share_for_starters&utm_medium=copyLink

Who knows? some camera maker could be listening and the others would probably follow. If we manage to get a good amount of feedback I'll try to inform the main brands.

http://forum.luminous-landscape.com/index.php?topic=33267

Would be nice that those signing the request would post on this thread to keep it alive as long as possible.

A bit late, but I signed - I think this is worthwhile. Though I would ask about the feasibility of doing it within the other performance characteristics people expect of these cameras.

It has already been done for some time on Canon cameras that are supported by the Magic Lantern firmware.  It would be nice if manufacturers that support raw capture supported specific tools for raw capture - perhaps a "raw mode" where histograms, blinks, etc. were specifically for the raw data and not the traditional JPEG output.

Not late Mark, I'm awaiting to reach 600 signs to send some emails (581 at this moment). Pitty I don't have access to any massive international forum/social network to sky rocket the signatures. Thanks!

Hi all, we made 700 signs! it would be nice a final push though. I won't bother you more, this is the second and last time I'll try to encourage you all to spread the word to get more signs. Shortly we'll let camera brands know and our job will be done.

JUST SIGN HERE OR SPREAD THE WORD TO TRY TO HAVE RAW HISTOGRAMS:

I wonder if more people would be aware of this IF the power's to be posted an article (free area) about this. I am pretty sure this was topic near and dear to Michael’s heart, maybe info on the main page about this and the Change.org URL would get further attention to other photographers.

I agree with that on Michael's view. In fact when I opened this thread I sent Kevin the message I reproduce below, hope this catches Kevin's attention. I would have no problem in writing or collborating to write such an article (in spite of some Spanglish). I wrote it in Spanish here (Google translation available):

http://www.elmomentodecisivo.com/2018/05/histogramas-raw-en-camaras-digitales.html

"Hi Kevin, I have opened a thread in the Cameras section requesting to sign on CHANGE.ORG to let manufacturers hear about the interest on RAW histograms on digital cameras. I know, because I interchanged some messages at the time, that this was also Michael's will since he promoted the ETTR on the Internet for the very first time.

http://forum.luminous-landscape.com/index.php?topic=124450.0

If you think it would be an interesting feature, I encourage you to have a read on it and sign the request on CHANGE.ORG if you find it convenient. I have no other way to reach a vast photographic audience than this. If you have any ideas on how to help spread this message just let me know.

Regards"

I understand Kevin is up in the high Arctic leading a workshop just now and - perhaps - may not have internet access for the time being.

Not only would it be nice for the camera manufacturers to give the user the option to enable a true raw histogram, but it would also be nice if there was a simple firmware addition that would enable the user to be able to input a raw offset, in EV, that would simultaneously permit exposing/shooting ETTR for raw and then simply scaling the ETTR downward by the user inputted EV offset for the in-camera JPEG.  If you shoot raw+JPEG but ETTR, currently the JPEG is rarely useful because of the added exposure for the ETTR.

Cameras like Fujifilm let the user process the raw file in-camera after the acquisition to generate a new JPEG - in-camera raw conversion.  One of the controls is exposure compensation after-the-fact.  So, it is already available but is an extra step that the user has to deliberately perform manually.

In other words, if your cameras shoot raw, then give raw shooters the tools to take advantage of it.

Saw this thread just now and signed right away. This should be a no-brainer, but apparently it isn't.
Similar issue is having more than 3 auto brackets for HDR; should also be a no-brainer.
