It looks like de-zooming to me having tried this effect myself some time ago (is that actually a real word de-zooming?), but what the heck, I really like the first one Rajan, as it looks very artistic to my mind and a very different and unusual rendition of a subject that has been photographed many, many times before. So to walk away with something different, really is quite a feat - bravo!

Those are nice. I have only used a similar technique with fireworks which is also pretty fun.

Perhaps. But my thinking goes like this: first you have to zoom to a desired focal length - that is zooming. And then you have to zoom back (or forth) or de-zoom. Plus I was mimicking de-focusing for rhetorical purposes
