I have the Novoflex adaptor from b&H, it seems to work well and works extremely well with longer lenses, Fully manual only but the 1ds2 meter still works ok.
I haven't really given it a good run with the 17 -35 although first tests I did seemed ok, but I believe its more critical at shorter focal lengths- I'll give it a test it the next day or so and let you know

Thanks very much for the recommendation. I had two concerns, which you
addressed. One was whether the adapter was going to be strong
enough to handle heavy loads (as with long lenses) without eventually
fatiguing. Sounds like the Novoflex is fine in that regard. The second
concern had to do with whether it is machined precisely enough
so you don't lose infinity focus, which would be more pronounced on
short focal length lenses. If you don't have time to check this, I may
be able to do a rough check at B&H before I buy it.
