One thing to think about. When you go commercial you should have business insurance, at least liability insurance. Most clients will require it if you are on their premises. Also, if you want to shoot for yourself in place like a railroad station, museum, or other place like that you will need to show a “Certificate of insurance” and in some cases a “additional insureds” listed on the COI. City permits may also ask for insurance and additional insureds.
Part of our business insurance is the coverage of camera equipment, business equipment, rental equipment, non-owned automobile liability, computer equipment….
I understand ASMP, PPA, and Taylor & Taylor provide insurance policies tailored to photographers. We have ours with the same company as our auto & home owners.
It is necessary and should be factored into your business plan.
