Apple have done an amazing marketing job... just as with computers, you pay twice as much for the same functionality. My friend's daughter has an iphone because all her friends have iphones. her mother has an android.
BTW, it seems that this thread has cursed me... my 4? year old HTC jumped out of my back-pack while cycling to work this am. Calling it results in going straight to the message service, so I suspect it has offered up its soul from under the wheels of a truck. Anyway, it seems to be possible to buy an equivalent replacement for 129€ from the local computer shop.
And if Dad has to pay for it all, he'll soon have a hemorrhoid. Maybe better he than she.
My pet beef at the moment is
Telefonica, the Spanish telephone network: they make me sponsor
their Formula 1 fun, they charge me around about €93 - €97
per month for the pleasure of my Internet connection. Which I can't have without a landline telephone I never use. The bundle includes my cellphone which I keep switched off, thinking of it in terms of an emergency aid should I feel the need at some time. Included is a set of tv stations that I already had covered via a terrestrial aerial. Oh, yes: I also get to see the number of any incoming call on the landline I rent. These are almost exclusively nuisance callers. I get 500 mins of calls on each device included. Clearly of great value as I am over twelve years of age, and seldom call anyone. However, should I want to call anyone outwith Spain, God help me with the bills for that joy. Shame the ¡ncluded calls are not transferable to foreign ones to the same total monetary value...
I feel myself getting ever more ripped off.
Perhaps I shall soon have the hemorrhoid instead.
