Nice with plenty of details, a "hideout" like this one is probably not very common.

You'd be surprised. Gorgeous photo, that truly depicts the bayou hideaways of Louisiana (at least from my memories).

+1

Reminiscent of our first reaction to the place Clyde Butcher has for rent in back with a blue tarp covering the roof, but it turned out to be not only an ideal location, but cosy and comfortable inside.

This cabin or 'camp' as it's called down here, once upon a time was a family getaway. A place to fish, hunt, eat and play music. Now it's within a wildlife management zone and is not-so-slowly returning back into the swamp. Actually there are a lot of camps here in LA. The regional pastime is fishing and drinking beer !
Glad you've enjoyed the foto.
Thanks for your kind comments.

+1 - the photo is also a classic in a way. It captures the atmosphere of the place: at once peaceful and a bit scary.

A agree with all the praise.

Thank you Arlen and Sean for your kind messages.
Interesting to hear it seems both peaceful and scary to you Sean. (My daughter feels the same.)
When I first started going into the wetlands with a camera it felt a bit creepy and strange. Nothing was familiar or comfortable. The gators and the snakes looked nothing but evil. But after 10 years of being out in my kayak, it now just feels like a beautiful and fragile ecosystem that's been desecrated over and over again. More then anything else, I've come to be protective and affectionate.

great b/w (as this your one) from foveon.
Please tell me: what means "only blue channel" (I imagine in PP).
All the best,

Hello Sandro,
Sorry to be late in responding. Have been away and took a break from all things digital.
About 'only blue channel': the foveon sensor, used only in Sigma cameras, is a 3 part sensor, arranged in a a stack of three layers. The top layer is blue, the other two are red and green. By choosing to use the blue information only you get exceptionally clean, sharp, and high resolution b&w images.
And the way to get just the blue layer is to utilize the color wheel in the Sigma software program and drag the center point all the way to blue- with no green or red. You'll find it's easy to do. If I can do it, anyone can!
Be glad to offer any more help.
Glad you like this foto.
Richard
PS- I use a Sigma DP2 Quattro and the latest version of SPP.

I love the B&W image, but I'd also love to see the color image as well if it is indeed available.

Larry,
Here's the color version.
Cropped slightly more then the b&w.
And thank you Pallo, Francois, Terry and Bob for all your words of encouragement.

The color is a nice representation but IMO the b&w has the swampy atmosphere.  :)

Hi Dave,
Thanks for your comment.
I see what you mean. And mostly agree.
Just really like the subtle warm colors in this one.

With some work that color image has plenty of potential in my mind. But I do really like the B&W image.
