Just reset the chip. The ink will flow until it actually runs out and the printer stops, when that happens it will restart when a new cartridge is put in, they truthfully are mid print hot swap-able.

Of all the issues with Epson printers this is the easiest and cheapest to work around.

I have been doing this for years, in my 7800, without a problem...
