Those weapons of mass destruction are wonderful things: you can cite them whether your “target” has them or not. Iraq, anyone?

Not only did Trump feel that the Nobel Peace prize should have been his, but he thinks that he should have been given the Pulizter Prize too. Maybe he thinks he deserves the Stanley Cup, the Vince Lombardy trophy and the World Cup too.

So Trump supports Putin, even though Putin has close ties to Iran with whom Trump is fighting a war.

Trump seems to be a priori contesting the results of the midterms, but only if his party loses.

Trump keeps promising things for after the mid-terms, trade deal with Canada, end to the Iran war, end to the Russia/Ukraine war, diesel prices will come down, etc. Why doesn't he do them now?

Why doesn't he do them now?
He is very good at broken promises.
Trump vowed to lower prices on "day one" and end the inflation. Instead, inflation has exceeded 3%, and everyday expenses like groceries and utilities remain high.
He promised gas prices below $2 a gallon, but national averages have climbed past $4 a gallon.
Trump promised widespread tariffs would revive American manufacturing. Instead, manufacturing employment fell, and the Supreme Court ruled bulk tariffs illegal, forcing billions in refunds.
Trump repeatedly promised to end foreign wars (including the Russia-Ukraine conflict in 24 hours), claiming he would start no new wars.
Despite pledges to balance the budget, tax cuts and spending policies have driven the national debt past $40 trillion, with large multi-trillion-dollar deficits projected.

Gas under Trump 2.0 is now more expensive than it was under Biden

On the campaign trail in 2024, President Donald Trump promised to make gas dirt-cheap again and blamed record-high gas prices on the Biden-Harris “war on energy.”
But then an actual war got in the way: Trump’s deeply unpopular conflict with Iran.
Nearly eight months into a war that has destabilized the global energy system, the average price of gas during Trump’s second term is now more expensive than it was during the Biden era, according to a CNN analysis of AAA data.

I saw a chart with all the campaign contributions from monied people yesterday.  The US will never escape from corruption if it doesn't get rid of Citizen's United. That may not be a panacea but it would be step in the right direction.

In a speech in the last few days Trump was bragging about all the oil that the US has in which he included Venezuela. So he just thinks that it's a vassal state now. So how come fuel is so expensive?

For all the stupid shit that Trump has stirred up, the Democrats have not come up with a centrist figurehead yet. Big money runs the show, until you get rid of that stink you won't find your way back. AI isn't the answer.

It isn't going to happen. Under one name or even under no name, money talks.

Add the incredible stupidity, gullibility and illogical optimism of the voting population and there is no salvation. There never has been: it's been a kind of slow - but accelerating - decline which will only end with the demise of the current civilisation. (An obvious sign of said decline is increasing lawlessness.) That's the existential lesson that history teaches us over and over again...

A very recent example of this lack of regard for voter intelligence was the Spanish left-wing PSOE's hijacking of the sad story of a lady whose apartment block had been purchased by a venture capital company that instantly raised the rents, which she couldn't meet. Evicted, she suddenly became a public figure until her death a few days later in hospital. She remained a social heroine right until the press lost interest.

The tv strapline which grabbed my attention declared the slogan: No evictions under the PSOE! Pardon? Who is in power right now, and has been for ages? How many evictions - without publicity - have there been under this party's rule? Of course, nobody seems to have noticed the irony of that slogan. The PSOE will probably win again, simply because there are more poor people than rich. That leaves out the recent pardoning, by the current PSOE, of fugitive Catalonian Separatist politicians under arrest warrants because of inciting riots and misappropriation of public monies, as well as the sudden granting of permits to literally thousands of illegal workers. Obviously, those Catalonia voters will be expected to back the PSOE and continue to provide, yet again, the numbers to keep the PSOE in power, as will the suddenly legal workers.

I never saw this No Evictions slogan challenged. QED.
