If I was a medical worker, I too would want everyone to stay home and wear a mask.  On the other hand, if I was a worker who couldn't feed my kids because the government shut down my business, I'd have a different opinion and want to get back to work.

Also, I hope I don't sound cold, but if you don't want to be exposed to people who have infectious diseases,  why did you become a healthcare worker or doctor?  What did you think is going to happen in that job?  Do firemen complain about fires?  They too protect themselves the best they can and then go into the fire anyway.  So too a medical worker has to protect themselves the best they can, and go into the fire.  They're brave as firemen are.  But there are risks.  Construction workers protect themselves as well with fall protection, masks, etc.  But they still die at rates higher than the average public due to their occupation.

And what about some politicians? They try to protect themselves with lies about the virus. They still get infected at rates higher than the average public.

That is the "release the Kraken" lawsuit former Team Trump lawyer Sidney Powell said she is going to file this week, maybe in Georgia, alleging that the voting machines with the software developed for former Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez, converted Trump votes to Biden votes, which was part of a communist funded conspiracy involving Venezuela, Cuba and China. She alleges the Republican governor and Republican Secretary of State of Georgia received bribes to purchase the rigged voting machines and software especially for the 2020 election. She also alleges that the US military has seized, and is now guarding, a server in Germany, with the votes showing a landside win for Trump. The problem with Facebook, Twitter, and similar companies is that they have been given protection by Congress against lawsuits under the public desire that their airways be open to all debate.  The point of this protection was not to then give these entities editorial rights to censor political thought and speech they disagree with.  If they want to do that, then the protection should be removed and they should be treated as any other media like a newspaper for example, who are open to lawsuits.

Either immunity or no immunity is an example of black and white thinking. Perhaps a more nuanced approach would be appropriate. That, of course, would require thinking instead of knee-jerking.

I know the risks, I don't need you to teach me. But people behave like selfish assholes, sometimes in an idiotic political stance. Not going to a birthday party, delaying a wedding and or just not partying doesn't prevent food to reach people's tables. Wearing a mask doesn't prevent you from working, and so on.

When you visit NYC, go across the East River to the Prison Ship Martyr's Monument in Brooklyn.  It's dedicated to the 11,500, maybe up to 18,000 American prisoners of war who your British kin allowed to die during the Revolutionary War of 1776 when we fought for our freedom. When they died, the British threw their bodies overboard into the river. More American soldiers died in your prisons than were killed on the battlefield during the 7 year war.  I'd be careful before pointing fingers at others.

I haven't heard of any governors asking the Federal government for assistance with building temporary hospitals or providing hospital ships as were requested in the Spring.

I guess they hoped that they'd be helping people who are sick, rather than compensating for people's stupidity and treating people who are occupying a hospital bed that could have been used by someone less stupid.

No, the point of the article did not go over my head.  Nor did your secret desire.  The argument has been there and yours here of a black-white choice.  Shut everything down or not.  Screw the economy.  Let's save lives and everything else can go to hell.  Well, that's not the choice.  That's no choice at all.

The economy has to survive as well so people can eat.  That means more illness, more sick people.  That means health workers are going to be exposed more, get sick more, and even die more.  If they feel they don't want to risk that, they can quit.  But of course, they have to eat as well.  So they're willing to take the risk of getting sick to feed their families.  So why shouldn't everyone else take risks and work so they can feed their families as well?

I don't see a problem with healthcare workers encouraging safer behaviors. Doctors certainly encourage people to wear seatbelts and motorcycle helmets. My orthopedic surgeon encouraged me to practice better ladder safety after he put my humerus back together with a plate and nine screws. Seemed like good advice to me.

Firemen advocate for fire safety. They go to schools all the time to impress upon children the importance of not starting fires under their beds when they are pretending to go camping.

Construction workers advocate for safety too. They have their unions make construction companies adopt safety measures.

There are a lot of stupid people who get sick because of it, drunkenness, drugs, etc.  If you feel the profession is too dangerous, become an accountant.
