Trudeau was on National TV yesterday urging people to wear masks, urging people to limit travel only for essential services, telling people money will be available to help everyone. Contrast that with Chetos that labeled people who wear masks as being weak, encouraged large gatherings without masks and egged on people to disregard the states measures and go out to bars.

Tell me, who is a leader and who is an idiot? Who is trying to keep their country safe and who is trying to divide their country.

There is very little in common between the USA leadership fighting the virus and the Canadian leadership.

Part of democracy is to appeal decisions.  That's what Trump is doing just as Gore did in 2000.  I don't think Trump is going to win.  Nor do I think there's fraud in four states to change the results. But he has a right to argue his point legally.  That's the democratic process.

For four years all we heard from the other side was how Trump was an illegitimate president even after he won.  He is a traitor, he colluded with the Russians.  It went on and on.  Clinton blamed FBI Director Comey, the electoral college, and the Russians.  We had a two-year investigation where Trump was undermined.  Yet, no one on your side thought that democracy was under siege by all those complaints.  In fact, you thought that was democracy working.  Yet, you get a little of the same from the other side, and you fall apart. You scream it's the end of democracy in the US. It seems you only believe in democracy when it leans in your favor.  Sorry, but that's not what America's about. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

What about Gore?
What about Clinton?

As I've been saying, it ain't over until the fat lady sings.  Apparently, Canadians have been learning bad habits from Americans and Europeans. Maybe this will stop the finger-pointing at America,  but I doubt it.

Trudeau urges Canadians to stay home as Covid-19 surges
New projections show the country could see 20,000 cases daily if Canadians don't reduce their contacts.

Proof positive that democracy will always win out in the, er, end.  :D

Apparently, Trudeau is following pretty much the same procedures as the American national government and leaving it to their provinces as we leave it to our state governors.  It's actually more strict in the USA as certain states have restricted other states from traveling to their states.  Not so with Canada's provinces. Of course, the whole thing here was about presidential election politics.  Now that it's over, many other countries are going to follow America with large number of cases and confusion as to what to do with their economies.  Of course, we won't hear about it here as people will be busy wiping egg off their faces.  :)

...No national lockdown: Provinces have jurisdiction over public health decisions in Canada. But the patchwork of rules across provinces and regions has caused confusion, prompting calls from some quarters for Trudeau to use emergency powers to impose a national, coordinated response to the second wave. Trudeau, however, has remained adamant that he does not want to intrude on provincial decision-making. On Friday, he said using the federal Emergencies Act to restrict travel between provinces is “not an idea I am even contemplating right now.”

He also categorically rejected the idea of another nationwide lockdown like the one last spring that saw schools and businesses shuttered across the country. Given the situation isn’t the same in all regions, he said, targeted restrictions are a more effective approach. “It was somewhat simpler in the spring,” he said of the nationwide shutdown. “And it worked to bend that curve. But millions of Canadians suffered and it was a blunt object of a tool.”

I've said before I believe he lost and should just move on.  But then, I wasn't the one who lost.  I seem to recall that your PM went to the Queen to get a ruling using her power to get his way regarding something with Brexit.  I don't recall the circumstances.  Maybe someone here could remind us.  But the point is politicians use whatever powers they can to get their way.  Trump is legally using the courts in accordance with our constitution.  We don't have royalty to override democracy.

What about your PM?
What about the Queen?

Many people here always are talking about America and knocking it as if it was an outlier. The point I'm making about Canada's escalating rate is that no one has gotten this right at least in the Western world.  A little humility from the America knockers is called for.   As an American, why don't you stand up for your own country.  That's disgusting.

The rules vary from province-to-province, but almost all are discouraging travelling in-between them right now. Actually, due to the latest lockdowns in some places, this weekend some of the travel rules may change again.

Looks like they just shut down Toronto, Canada's largest city.  Trudeau says snowbirds should stay home and not travel to Florida.  Some snowbirds where I lie have stayed home here in New Jersey. But most have flown the coop to Florida.

Local police in New Jersey won't follow the Governor's orders.

Howell police won't enforce holiday COVID gathering limits, chief says

"HOWELL - Got a neighbor with too many Thanksgiving guests? You can mind your own business, as far as township police are concerned.

In a memo to personnel Thursday, police Chief Andrew Kudrick ordered his department not to "accept or respond to any report of a facial covering/mask, social distancing or indoor/outdoor gathering complaint" and gave dispatchers "broad discretion in assigning a response to a complaint."

The memo came just days after Gov. Phil Murphy tightened restrictions on indoor gatherings from 25 people to 10 and outdoor gatherings from 500 to 150. The indoor restrictions began Tuesday and the outdoor limit takes effect Monday.

(Police Chief) Kudrick said police "have relied upon our community to be responsible by limiting exposure and spread of this virus. This will continue without our enforcement intervention."

The Canadian border to US is closed for the car traffic (except for commercial vehicles), but Canadians can still fly to Florida. About 30% of the snowbirds are planning to go south for the winter, but there are quite a few Canadians who won't go not so much because of Covid, but because of Trump.

New study on masks.

https://www.webmd.com/lung/news/20201119/how-much-does-wearing-a-mask-protect-you

Masks or scarves over the nose and mouth are good also when worn outside on cold days. Wrapped around the face, a scarf provides cover to help prevent frostbite, chapped lips, runny noses and numb cheeks.

You stand up when you think there is something to stand up to. What in your mind do you think how the USA has handled the virus deserves standing up to? It's the richest country in the world that has the biggest healthcare budget...yet it leads the world in infections and deaths. I don't see anything worth standing up for...lots to criticize.

Always showing examples of everyone else rather than your leader Chetos. Your "what abouts" are just excuses for the disasterous effort by Chetos in handling this virus.

Even with the global warming, the winter is not warm enough for outdoor swimming, but some people have started to grow palm trees here. I'm going to try growing a fig tree in my backyard next spring.

BC where I live has a manditory mask order which I'm very glad for and no non essential travel as well as no in home gatherings with people from outside the home. Yesterday a homeowner was nailed with a $3,000 fine for holding a poker game in his house and another for holding a get together for about 12 people.
