hello, just an update to my previous problem.. I installed a new HP servicestation from alibaba- china.

The good thing is this service station needs to be replaced after some years and is part of many HP printers - the reason you can still buy it new.
costed 350 incl 2month containership delivery...it comes with the ventilator -all the motors and drop detector.    (An ink cartridge/ printhead  new now costs about 100€ ex tax !!)
It seems to work fine and has made my printer work again.
The new servicestation weight was 2050 grams- the old 2850 grams - so 800 gram wasted ink.
I know that it can carry about 2kg of wasted ink before it spills over - but this one was 15 years old so that was the problem- the plastic tickkers broke off ( that control the waste ink tubes)

so with also a new LPS belt inside I hope it will do some more printing.

maybe the idea is you can now use f/1.4 with some less quality and for video f4 could be nice reducing the light so you have longer shutterspeeds?

but from DOF point of view ?  maybe macro?

F/stop selection is limitied to only one lens, 24mm equivalent. And it is not like you can go to, say, f/22... just f/4

There doesn't seem to be anything worth upgrading my iPhone 17 Pro Max... I generally do that every second generation anyway. Variable aperture? On a tiny sensor? Would like to see if there is any perceptible difference in depth-of-field.

My wife and I have just begun to learn tethered shooting using our Nikon D810 tethered to our M4 Pro MacBooks, both of us using Tahoe 26.5 and Lightroom Classic 15.0.

When I set up my MacBook Pro for tethered shooting, the connection to the D810 and the tethered shooting work as expected.

When we tether my wife’s MacBook Pro to the D810 using the same cable and without changing any of the D810’s settings, the MBP hangs up on the message “Detecting Camera… Please make sure your camera is properly connected and turned on. You may need to wake you camera if it ended sleep mode.” The camera does not connect, nor do I ever see that “Detecting Camera…” message when I set up to shoot tethered on my MacBook.

We’ve tried the recommended fixes in Adobe’s document “Lightroom Classic Help > Troubleshooting tethered capture” (“last updated on May 24, 2023”). (I skipped Recommendation 8, which is to delete the Lightroom preferences file, because as far as I can recall, when I set up our MacBooks, the preferences would have been the same and would not have been changed since.)

It seems to me that there must be something unknown to us going on in my wife’s MacBook that is not happening in mine.

Any thoughts?

Yes, Rob, sorry about that… I closed my website that was hosted by Zenfolio… no one was visiting it anyway… and I didn’t refresh it after I left the States in 2019.

The changes you refer to are not germane to the 18 - they’re  a consequence of the OS upgrades and the revised camera app. Not sure when they were introduced but I’m running it on a 16 pro. All configurable within

Settings > Camera > Camera Control > Camera Adjustments > Customise

The September Apple event is the first time, IIRC, that the iPhone was introduced first, usually it’s last.
A sure sign that it was (and is) but an iterative upgrade.

That's interesting, and makes it seem that Apple is just trying to retain market share (and manage the excitement of an expected new-product time slot) without producing anything really better.

Thanks for the info. - it could make old (but new) 17 Pro model offers interesting from a 13 Mini owner's point of view.
